Little Sailor.....

I've got a kiddie's card for you today. I picked up the new Trimcraft 'Ahoy There!' 6x6 paper pack from The Range a couple of weeks ago, and I thought that these cute stripes and anchor papers would make a lovely card for a little boy.
I cut a shaped card base from white cardstock then added striped and red mats. I cut a smaller panel for the centre of the card from the anchor paper, again matted with red. Because the cartridge doesn't have a shadow facility, I cut the red mats 1/4" larger than the patterned mats. Before adhering the centre panel to the card, I added some blue and white bakers twine from which dangles an anchor cut from silver mirri.
The cute little sailboat was cut from red, black, white and blue cardstock. I added some detail around the portholes with a white gel pen then adhered it to the card with foam pads. The sentiment cut from blue card was adhered flat the glittered.

Celebrate With Style!......

My BIL Steve was 51 yesterday and this is the card that I made for him. It's an 8x8 square and the fab papers are Wild Rose Studio's Man About Town 6x6 pad. I got mine from www.bunnyzoescrafts.co.uk.  I used three designs from the pack and some red and black cardstock. The fab figure was cut once from black cardstock and then again from red- I cut the bow tie from the red cut and adhered it to the black cut. I also added a teeny triangle of red cardstock to the pocket on the jacket to create a handkerchief, and a gem to the sleeve for a cufflink. Black velvet ric-rac braid was adhered over the join in the stripe and damask papers, then the central panel and the figure were applied with foam tape. '51' was cut from red glittercard with a black shadow, then adhered with foam pads. I finished the card with some red and black card candi.

A teenager no longer!!!.....

My baby left his teenage years behind him at the beginning of this month. I can't believe how the years have flown. He's now in York and has almost finished his first year at uni. I made him a music themed card using this fab birthday word art laid out on music staves. I cut a 7 1/2" card base with an aperture (using a 24" mat) then covered the card with papers from my stash. The Happy Birthday word art was cut from gunmetal grey mirri and adhered behind the aperture. I added some 'vinyl' records a pair of headphones, some punched stars and my boy's name and age cut from denim effect paper. All the elements were adhered to the card with foam pads. I added a piece of green paper behind the aperture to finish.

Time To Relax......

I made this card for my colleague and friend Vicky's hubby Alex. He's recently retired and I thought that the sun-lounger 'lounger' in a holiday isle setting was perfect. The card is an 8x8 square, and I topped it with this fab palm tree and beach (complete with sun shade and coconut!) cut from textured cardstock. I added 'sea' with shimmery paper (you can see the effect better in the next pic) and an image of a very rotund gent from last month's Making Cards For Men Special Edition. I adhered the rough cut image onto card to give it stability, then cut it out and adhered it to the scene with foam pads.

Here you can see how the sea shimmers- makes you wanna take a dip!- and that great image!
I added a blue shadow to the whole image then adhered it to the card with foam pads. The sentiment was cut from brown cardstock and adhered flat around the image.

Island scene- Formal Occasion (there are other scenes available on the cart)
Sentiment- Life's A Beach

Sophie.......

One of the GirliezNextDoor had a birthday last month. She's a teenager now so I made her a girly card. It's almost the same as a previous card that I made for Sam, my boss Jennie's daughter. I used the same figure but dressed her differently. I used papers from First Edition's latest 8x8 stack called New Bloom, on a C5 card base. I punched the bottom edge of the centre panel with a MS punch. I added some sheer ribbon and a bow and topped it with a sheer bloom and a heart shaped pin. 'Sophie' was cut from purple glittercard and adhered flat (looks a bit on the wonk!) and 'Happy Birthday' was cut from purple mirri. The parcel was hand cut from embossed mirri, and wrapped with fine silver cord. It was adhered to the card with foam pads. A smattering of purple gems completes the card.

The perfect excuse to buy shoes!.......

Not that our niece Anita needs an excuse! It was her birthday last month and this is the card that I made her. I got inspiration for this card from my local gift shop that has some really nice girly cards featuring silhouettes. The original had a girl leaning over the top of a pair of shoes, but I wanted mine leaning against a pair of shoes. So I cut out a ginormous shoe from black and red mirri and chopped it to fit the card which is an 8x8 square.
I then cut the figure twice (one flipped) from black pearlised cardstock and once from red glittercard. I changed the left arm by cutting it off and adding the right arm from the second figure so that both elbows were crooked (in the original cut the left arm is extended upwards. I then removed the head and arms from the red glittercard figure, shaping the front of the dress and adding shoestring straps to cover the join in the arm. I blinged up the figure with red and clear gems, then adhered her to the shoe.
The background paper is a Printable Heaven download, matted onto black and red cardstock. I added a wide satin ribbon and bow, and the name cut from black glittercard. The sentiment was computer generated, matted then adhered to the card with foam pads.

Aneurin's birthday.........

One of the little boyznextdoor (he's actually not so little anymore!) had a birthday last month and this is the card that I made for him. It's a C5 card base and the backing paper is some old stuff from my stash. I cut a shaped panel from white cardstock and shadowed it with red. The white panel was embossed with a football design. The footballer was cut from textured cardstock (I also embossed the bottom green layer with a Fiskars 'grass' texture plate) and I also added some detail to his face with Promarkers. The football was adhered to the grass with foam pads. The name and sentiment were cut from plain cardstock and adhered flat, the footballer was adhered with foam pads.
