So In Love

I hope I'm not boring you with the layout for my recently posted cards, but it is so easy to work with! I used exactly the same method as previous cards (it's amazing how quickly cards come together when using a layout that you like) but obviously just changed the image, sentiments & colours. The images on the Sweethearts cart all have layers to make multicoloured images, but I'm finding that I like the silhouette look (besides which, it's SO much easier than cutting out ALL of those darn layers!!!) I cuttlebugged the pink panel with a Fiskars texture plate and added the kissing couple cut from black glittercard then raised on foam pads. I added spotted sheer ribbon, layered flowers & punched glittercard hearts. The sentiment is a combination of glitter card & rub-ons. I decorated the inside of the card too.

Glittery reindeer

Here's another card, this time Christmas themed, using the same layout as yesterday's card. I made it in exactly the same way but using Christmas papers. I only used one sheet of 12x12 double sided paper for this one as I liked the reverse side as much as the main design. I cut the reindeer from glittercard and added the harness which was cut from green card then glittered as I didn't have the right shade of green glittercard.I added a Prima glittered star (from a bubble bottle of Prima poinsettas) two flowers which I glittered, snowflakes, sheer ribbon & some punched stars.

Totally you!

Is this the sweetest, girly image EVAH?!!! She's so retro! I love this layout too- I've made three cards today using it, I'll show you the others in time. I used freebie papers from Simply Cards & Papercraft OR Complete Cardmaking (not sure which). I was going to make a christmas card but looking closer at the papers I thought that they weren't particularly christmassy so I decided to make a girly card instead. I cut out the scalloped border and added it to a white polka dot embossed panel which was matted onto pink & green cardstock. I cut a rectangular panel from the 2nd paper and also matted it. The green panel was embossed with the Cutty and the image, cut from glitter card was added with foam pads. I added stripy green ribbon, a layered flower with paper rosebuds, punched hearts and the 'totally you' sentiment also cut from glitter card. I added a scalloped strip and sentiment to the inside of the card too.

Joy To The World

This card was almost consigned to the bin! I 'borrowed' the layout which I liked, I loved the papers- but something just wasn't happening. I tried different shaped panels but nothing seemed right. So, out came the old Heidi rub-ons from Making Memories-et voila! Suddenly all was right with the world! I made that poinsetta from red & green handmade paper and I was quite pleased with it, I just added a smaller prima sheer flower to it. The paper is from Papermania & the ribbon is from the cheapo bin at The Range. I added a Papermania spotty Christmas brad to the centre of the poinsetta and a couple of red metallic brads to the white panel.

Teddy Bear Birthday

Well, here it is! Is this the cutest bear or what!!!??? I was browsing a certain cart & saw this bear. It doesn't look much on the cart, so I cut one out of scrap paper and WOW! It's the most gorgeous little teddy! I cut the bear again from coloured card then chalked it around the edges and all the cut lines. I added the patterned pieces and then doodled again around the edges and all the cut the lines with a Tombow pen in a slightly darker colour (click the picture to see the detail) I added a bow to the neck & a shaped brad in the larger paw pad. I embossed a large white panel & matted it onto coloured card. I made another panel with a punched edge from coloured card & freebie papers. I added ribbon & a bow then adhered it to the card front with foam tape. I then added the bear. I cut a '1' from glitter card and adhered it with foam pads to the top right of the card. Titchy buttons & a flower complete the card. I put a simple sentiment inside using glitter card, plain card & patterned paper.

Marry Me?

I can't tell you how chuffed I am at how this card turned out! I knew what I wanted it to look like but the end result is more than I could have hoped for. I tried cutting the ring box from Doodlebug velvet paper but Jiminy didn't like it and chewed it up & spat it out. What a mess!! So I cut the box from red card , cut the ring portion off it then glued & flocked it. I cut a blackout version in gold mirri (so that the gold would show through the cut- out in the box) and stuck them together. I added a mini heart brad to the side of the box. I cut the ring & sparkler from mirri & glitter card, decorated the ring with peel off borders then adhered it to the ring in the box. I embossed the large white panel with a Fiskars Texture plate & the Cuttlebug, matted it onto red & gold mirri then adhered it to the card front. I cut a strip of red mirri and puched out the edge with a Marta Stewart punch. I added a strip of Cuttlebugged gold mirri and red sheer heart printed ribbon with a layered flower. I cut the sentiments from red mirri shadowed with gold. The red hearts that I scattered over the card were waste from the border punching & also a small heart punch. I decorated the inside of the card with another punched border & hearts.

Poinsetta greetings

Here's another step card. I made a rather large poinsetta to fit onto the rectangular panel- I think it's a bit too big to be honest, but never mind!
The poinsetta leaves were cut from paper and the green base layer was cut from card. The layers were fixed with a glue dot on each layer and I added five little circles of paper punched with the Cropodile to the centre. The leaves and centre were then glittered. The background paper is from Forever Friends Collection. 'Seasons Greetings' was cut from red card, cuttlebugged with the Swiss Dots folder then shadowed with gold. Poinsetta ribbon a Prima Poinsetta and a little bling complete the card.

Snowman Silhouette

Isn't this a cute image? It is one of 6 on the Child's year cart that are Christmas based. I used paper from Forever Friends Santa's On His Way pack. I used 2 snowflake print papers matted onto a large white panel, the paler panel being adhered at an angle. I cut a scalloped rectangle, cuttlebugged it and shadowed it in blue. The image was cut from black card and shadowed with blue also. I added some shimmery ribbon, a blue poinsetta from last year's stash (Papermania) some bling and some punched snowflakes.

Jingle all the way!

Here's another step card folks! I used paper from DCWV -this stack is last year's I think. I love the pink & blue colourway of this paper and there were three different designs to choose from. I cut the bells from mirri card and the letters from glittercard with silver shadows. Blue spotty ribbon and Prima poinsettas (also from last year!) with a gem brad were used for trimming. I added some bling to the bells and to the panel that they sit on.

Santa & Child

Here's a really simple but very effective card. The layout is very simple-just rectangles matted & layered. I used paper from MME for the centre rectangular panel and for the strip across the card. I added ribbon to the scalloped strip and laid the scalloped oval over it. A ribbon bow & layered poinsetta were adhered to the bottom of the oval. I cut the image from black card and just glittered the gift. The ladies at my workshop last week made their own versions of this card and they made a very good job of it!

Kiss Me!

Is this little froggy hysterical or what?!!!! I got my new Sweethearts cart today (got thumped for Import Tax AGAIN!) and this little chap just screamed 'make me!!!!!' So I did!
I cut him from green card and then embossed him with a Fiskars Texture Plate. I added googly eyes and then mounted him onto a Cuttlebugged circle matted onto green and then on to a scalloped circle. I was going to put him onto a heart but he didn't look right. I used paper from DCWV and the pink scalloped strip was Cuttlebugged and a polka dot bow added. I cut the sentiment from pink card and shadowed it with green. The sentiment was glittered with Glitz glitter glue and the heart with pink glitter glue as were the little punched hearts & the scalloped circle. The crown was cut from gold mirri and adhered with a foam pad.

Christmas Duo

These two cards were made from scratch on the Expression. The larger card is approx 6 1/4" across and was made using the 12 x 24" mat (7 3/4"), the smaller card was made to fit the 6 x 12 mat (5 1/2"). The inside of the card is covered with dark red paper onto which I adhered a white rectangle matted onto card cold. This is to hold a sentiment. I cut a piece of patterned paper from Papermania's Joyeux Noel collection and matted it onto gold mirri. I then cut out a frame from gold mirri and adhere a matted white panel to it with foam pads. I added a velvet ribbon bow and layered poinsetta & holly leaf (large card) and a bow & layered red flower (small card). I cut out the sentiment and adhered it at an angle (large card) and straight (small card). To finish I glittered around the scallops and added gems (I'll do the same to the small card!)

Happy Birthday Natalie!

I don't want to bore you all with JUST Christmas cards so I thought that I'd show you a birthday card today. I made it for a friend of no2 son. It's a square card with the corners rounded and the front folded back on itself. I used freebie papers from Papercraft Inspirations (I think!) I cut a scalloped rectangle panel trimmed it with a ribbon & layered flower and added another image from Trimcraft. The blue panel on the front was Cuttlebugged. I cut the name from glittercard with pink shadow, and 'Happy Birthday' was cut from plain card and shadowed in pink.

Peace On Earth

Another step card for you today. Made in exactly the same way as the others. I used papers from Papermania's Christmas range from The Range. On this card I used the same paper on all of the steps but used a different one on the panel holding the angel. I matted the pieces onto beautiful gold card that looks like slub silk- and it's reversible.
The angel actually faces the other way on the cart but I flipped it to make the card more balanced. For original bug owners this image can be cut and used on the reverse side- especially with this card. I cut the letters- there is an 'ON' in there, it's just a bit low to be seen! I added gold ribbon & star brads.

Season's Greetings Step Card

Here's another step card made in exactly the same way as yesterday's card. I told you they were simple to make-the hard part is deciding which paper to use out of the array of fabbo Christmas papers available this year! This paper is Winter Wonderland from MME. It's double sided so matching papers is no problem as you only need 2 designs for these cards. I used glitter paper from Crafttime for the tree with a card blackout backing and glittercard for the sentiment. The stars were punched from glitter paper and embellished with gems. I also added gems to the tree (click on the picture for a better look). I added swirly white ribbon to the bottom panel. This panel can also be used for a sentiment. You can also use the large panel for the sentiment and use the steps to make up a little Christmassy scene. There are no hard and fast rules with this card- I told you the possibilities were endless!

First Christmas card- and SERIOUSLY addicted!

Well, everyone else is doing it- so why not me?!!!
Here is my first Christmas card of this year! I saw a demonstrator on Create & Craft last week make a card like this, I watched carefully and then, after several aborted attempts came up with a great template to make this step-card. They are soooo easy to make and I'll warn you- when you've made one you HAVE to make another one, then another then an......... you get the idea!!! I used My Minds Eye (I think!) double-sided paper to make panels to fit the sections of the card. I matted them onto red card and adhered them to the sections in alternate patterns. I added a strip of ribbon to the narrowest panel, with a bow and mini poinsetta with snowflake & gem trim. I cut the sentiment from glitter card (only glue the bottom half of each letter to the panel) and a large white snowflake and smaller aqua flake and layered them up with another poinsetta and gem brad. The flake was adhered with a large foam pad.I added a bow above the flake to finish. There are ENDLESS possibilities for this style of card and they give you so much room to work with! You'll be seeing lots of these over the next few months I'll guarantee (warn you) that! The ladies who are coming to my workshop on Wednesday will be making one of these!

Happy Birthday, Brother!

This is the card that I made for Naren (No2 son!) to give to Krishnan on his birthday. I used a tent fold square card, some kraft card stock (actually from PaperMill boxes- I couldn't chuck 'em now could I?) Dovecraft (?) papers and a Create & Craft sticker. I cuttlebugged the silver disc and layered it onto a circle of petrol-blue card. I added tyre-track ribbon, silver & blue candy dots, and 'BROTHER' spelled out in silver alphabet beads. A silver Mirri sentiment with shadow completes the card.

Happy Birthday Son!

Our eldest son Krishnan is 19 today! Woohoo! Happy Birthday Dol! Krishnan plays the guitar (very well I might add!) so I used a guitar as the theme for his card. I cut the guitar from red sparkle card & silver mirri and added some peel off waste for tuning buttons. I cut Happy Birthday & SON from Mirri & glitter card. SON was adhered to black paper and hand shadowed. The happy Birthday was shadowed on the Bug. I used paper from DCWV Rockstar Stack (orange paper) and Cosmo Cricket (Pop quiz panel) but I can't remember who makes the guitar print paper. I added music printed ribbon and some stars cut from waste sparkle & glitter card. I cut ''You Rock' from mirri card & black card and adhered it to the inside with another star.

Oh, Happy Day!

This card is much more vibrant IRL, the photo doesn't really do it justice! The layout is pretty simple. 3 horizontal panels of different papers matted onto hot pink cardstock. I added a cuttlebugged , ribbon wrapped panel with bow & gem, the circular sentiment mounted onto a scalloped circle and 3 layered flowers. A little bling was added to the sentiment circle to fill a few gaps!

Get Well

Sorry that I've not been around but it was my dear Dad's funeral on Thursday and I had to go up to the Midlands for a few days. As you can imagine it was a horrible time for all of us.We said that we would all get through it together, and we did. Our Mum was so brave and Dad would have been proud of her for arranging everything just as he had wished. Although we couldn't see it at the time, we were told that people were standing at the back of the chapel because there were so many people there! Work mates from the 80's, neighbours, and cousins not seen for ages
had all turned out to give Dad a good send off. Now it's all a bit anti-climatic and we have to move on but that's something that we'll all do together too. God Bless Dad- we'll never forget you.
Thanks for listening- now onto today's card. This card was going to be for something else, but a friend of my eldest broke her tibia & fibula in a trampolining accident last weekend so I changed the intended sentiment to 'Get Well' - sounds like an order doesn't it?! I borrowed the layout again but tweeked it a bit. I used paper from DCWV, I added faux stitching, a ribbon bow, layered flowers and a little bling. The sentiment was actually cut in one piece but I cut it into two separate words along with a hand cut shadow to balance out the white panel. I glittered the sentiment with Cosmic Shimmer Glitter. The inside sentiment was computer generated on Safmat from Letraset.

My Life is good.....

Isn't this a lovely sentiment? I didn't know what I was going to put on this card as I was making it, then I looked through my cart booklets and found this sentiment. I thought that it looked a bit chunky & masculine so I prettied it up with some rub ons, glitter and an added sentiment inside. I used BoBunny double sided paper, matted onto hot pink & black card. The black & white panel (reverse side of the pink paper) was edged in black with a border punch. I added a shadowed panel, polka dot ribbon bow, layered flower & bling swirl (notice the sheen on the flower-that's Tattered Angels pearl Glimmer Mist!). If you click on the picture you'll see it better!
