You go Girlfriend!.......

Wow! What a difference a day makes! The weather here on the south coast is great today, blue sky, sun and a breeze. Ideal drying weather in fact. I've managed to put my washing out today without having to make a mad dash down the garden when the heavens open! And I've mowed the lawn too! If I'd left it another week it'd have been a veritable jungle. It's been so wet, if I'd done it sooner I'd have bunged up the mower. It'll probably be chucking it down tomorrow.

Well, as promised here is a card I made using the fab new Teen Scene Paper Doll cart. There are both girl and boy images on this cart, in several different poses. I love this sassy image. There is another image on the page with her wearing a long dress but I'll show you that one another time.  All of the dolls are created from 4 layers although you can leave out one layer ( for the whites of the eyes- I just adhered a scrap of white card behind the eyes as it seemed a waste of white cardstock to cut out a whole body). Then you just cut out the clothes, shoes and accessories and Bob's your uncle! A fab teen figure! For this sassy lady I used glittercard for the dress shoes and bag. I added a little blush to her cheeks with some chalk, then blinged her up. The card base is a standard DL and the papers are Christmas Me To You from last year- they were perfect for this card. I added a panel to the centre of the card, then adhered the finished figure to it with her feet along the bottom edge of the card. The sentiment- You go Girlfriend!- was computer-generated then adhered to a scalloped oval. I finished the card with a bow, single bloom and some extra bling.

A Swell Gal!.......

I've got a couple of new carts people and OMG! They are THE BEST YET!!! I've been stalking on-line stores for the Art Deco and Teen Scene carts and at last I have them! The Art Deco cart is full of beautiful images for both men and women- or Guys and Gals!- and this is the first card that I made with it. I'm in love with this image! The walking lady and the dog are seperate cuts but I thought that they'd be great put together. The card is a standard C5 and the papers are First Edition. The colour palette is soft green, taupe and peach. Yummy! The lady was very easy to put together, and I added a few little bits like the trim around the bottom of her jacket and pocket, cut by hand, and a punched flower on her cloche hat. The dog was cut from two shades of grey cardstock, and a collar was cut from mirror card. I added green gems to the collar. The lead is a piece of fine silver cord which was adhered to the back of the dogs neck and the lady's hand. They are both adhered with foam pads to a shaped panel. The computer-generated sentiment - Happy Birthday to a swell gal!- was printed onto textured cardstock, then trimmed and matted. It was adhered to the card front with foam pads and embellished with a rose, and small peach-coloured flowers. A smattering of pearls completes the card.

What a difference a colour change makes!......

 I've got a couple of cards for you this evening to show you how a colour change can make all the difference on a card. I LOVE the dramatic black/aqua colour palette of this first card. Again I used the DCWV Street Lace 8x8 pad (it's almost all gone now! Boo Hoo!) The card base is a standard C5 covered with black textured cardstock. I added a smaller panel of patterned paper to the centre of the card, then a punched, ribbon-trimmed border to one side. A shaped panel was adhered with foam pads to the centre of the panel. It was topped with an embossed rectangle, then a beautiful oriental lady cut from black and white cardstock and patterned paper. The 'Beauty' sentiment was cut from black cardstock, trimmed (it's part of a sentiment panel) then matted onto aqua cardstock. A couple of punched flowers with pearls centres were added as embellishment. A satin bow and aqua bloom completes the card.

The pastel version is much softer and delicate. It was made in exactly the same  way with papers from the 'Hot Diggety Dog' A4 pack  by Andrea Jayne (from Dovecraft) and a scrap of paper from a 6x6 freebie pad (courtesy of a mag yonks ago) for the kimino. I added a little punched daisy to the lady's hair and a WOC Helibore, and flower printed sheer ribbon bow.

A smattering of pearls completes the card.

A pop-out side stepper....OR IS IT??!!!

 I made this card for No2 son's friend's sister. On the surface it looks like a stepper card, but it isn't! It looks as though you've created a fancy fold card, but you haven't! It very easy to do. Just take a C5 card then add panels to make it look like a stepper.

You can see from this photo how it looks from the side.

I used papers from the DCWV Street Lace 8x8 stack, matting each of the panels onto hot pink card.

The back two lace effect panels go on first- its just a piece of pink cardstock cut to fit the front, then two narrow panels adhered at either end leaving a narrow border. Then the central panel goes on next (this is cut slightly taller than the card front so that it protrudes over the top fold) with foam pads. The final piece to go on is the narrow horizontal panel on the front, adhered with foam pads. Ta Da! Easy Peasy! A 'stepper card' with none of the work!

Then you just decorate it. Each of the side panels were decorated with a black, glittercard flourish embellished with teeny punched flowers. I cut a shaped panel for the front, then adhered a glittery '18' to it with foam pads. 'Hannah' was cut from glittercard then adhered along the front horizontal panel. A ribbon bow, layered bloom and a smattering of pearls completes the card.

Wishes do come true.....

I wanted to make a baby card for something other than a birth, and what better than an Adoption card?

I decided to go for an image for an older child and found this sweet highchair. I cut a circular card base, backing it with a coloured circle to go behind the cut-out sections. I cut a smaller circle from patterned paper and shadowed it with coloured cardstock. I added a punched, ribbon-trimmed border across the card, slightly lower than the centre. The highchair was cut from coloured cardstock with patterned backrest. It was adhered to the card front with foam pads. The lovely sentiment is a Pink Petticoat download. The sentiments were printed onto white textured cardstock, trimmed and matted with coloured cardstock, then adhered to the card with foam pads. A teeny punched flower on the sentiment completes the card.

Celebrate!......

Our nephew Skanda, who lives in Sydney, Australia was 18 last week and this is the card that I made for him. It wasn't the first effort- that went in the circular file- this one was MUCH better! It's a C5 card base. Silver holographic cardstock was matted onto brown cardstock and adhered to the front of the card. I printed a celebration image and some drinking glasses from a Madaboutcards 'One for the boys' download, onto glossy photo paper. The boy image was matted onto brown cardstock, and the other images were cut out leaving a smidgen of a white border. The image was adhered to the centre front of the card, and the glasses and bottle adhered around the image. Three punched stars were added to fill the gap. 'UR' & 'CELEBRATE' were cut from brown mirri card, the '18' from brown glitter card, then adhered to the card with foam pads.
