Precious Cargo......

Here are a couple more tri-fold concertina cards made in exactly the same way as yesterday's card. I used baby script and polka dot and gingham papers and I think that the finished cards are very soft and pretty. I used an MS punch on the pink card and an EK Success punch on the blue card. I never thought I'd say this 'cos I love MS punches, but I think that EK Success are the better punches. I've broken 3 MS punches and I feel that the punch mechanism in MS punches is really flimsy, whereas the punching handle (for want of a better word) on EK punches is much more substantial. I think that I'll be getting more of them in future.

The stork on both cards was cut from white glittercard and I drew around the baby portion onto coloured glittercard to create coloured blankets. I added a scalloped circle with an embossed plain circle holding the sentiment, which were cut from glittercard. The sentiments were cut apart to fit the circles. Ribbon, punched daisies, layered blooms
and a scattering of pearls complete the cards.

Winter Fun.....

This is the A5 version of yesterday's card. I'm not a huge fan of DL cards (which yesterday's card was) so I adapted the fold to fit a C5 envelope and this card fits the bill! I used a piece of A2 card - I buy mine from The Range for £2.99 for 25 sheets-and scored it @ 5", 10" & 15" using a Hougie Board. The A2 card fits the board perfectly, then I just trimmed down the resultant concertina card to the same height as an A5 card (A4 folded in half). I then trimmed 2 panels to a diagonal leaving 1/2cm to allow for punching. I then decorated the card using Dovecraft papers, a pink glittercard skater frame with embossed mirri background, spotty ribbon, plenty of punched snowflakes (life's way too short to cut small snowflakes using the Bug!) and a sentiment cut from more glittercard/mirri with a white base shadow. A smattering of pink & blue gems complete the card.

You're worth it!....

I tried a newish fold the other day (for me anyhow!) This fold is as old as the hills, but I've never made a card with it that I liked. It's easy to do, just tri-fold a piece of A4 using a score board. Then (if you want to use a punch on the edge) measure about 1/4" from the top corner of the middle panel to about 3 1/2" UP from the bottom edge on the 3rd panel and cut a diagonal line with a craft knife. Then punch the edge away- the 1/2" that you left at the top prevents the punched design going onto the back of the card. Then fold concertina-wise and decorate. This was the first one I made, and I nearly didn't finish it, but I persevered and I have to say I really like this one! I've also adapted the fold to make a standard C6 card from a piece of A2 card and I'll be showing you those over the next few days.
Back to today's card though.
I used an MS punch along the edge, then cut Papermania Summer Bloom papers to fit the panels and to create a border across the front of the card. and also on the back panel (not visible in the photo) I cut 3 flutterbies from pink glittercard in differing sizes, decorated the largest one with pearls then adhered them to the card.' You're worth it' was cut from glittercard, cut apart because it wouldn't fit the space, then re-assembled onto white cardstock and cut out by hand. Sparkly ribbon, pearls and a layered bloom complete the card.

Dummy shutter....

I love this little dummy! The complete cut has a little smiley face on it, but I omitted the face layer and replaced it with one cut from patterned paper. I used flesh coloured Bazzill for the teat, silver mirri for the base cut and paper for the body of the dummy. I added a little gingham bow to the ring of the dummy and some tiny pearls to the patterned body. I used a shutter as a base card and baby papers, and some lovely washed papers from The Works. I also added white punched borders top & bottom. The dummy was mounted onto a scalloped rectangle which was enhanced with a mini punched border and some punched glittercard hearts. A layered bloom was adhered to the top right corner. 'Welcome Baby' was cut from glittercard and adhered to the right hand panel. More gingham ribbon and a smattering of punched hearts complete the cards.

A Castle for Amy....

One of the Girliez next door had a birthday on Monday and this is the card that I made her. It's what I call an 'extended easel'. What is that you might ask? It's simply a standard easel card, but it has a 'step' on the front which was just a piece of card scored twice @ 1 1/2" intervals with 1/2" extra for fixing, giving a mountain fold extension to the front of the card. The card was then decorated as normal. I used Honey & Hugs papers and some Dovecraft Back To Basics papers. I cut a shaped panel topped with a smaller panel cut from sky print paper by DCWV and flower print paper (Honey & Hugs) to create hills. A fairytale castle was cut from white glittercard with pink turrets, then adhered with foam pads to the panel. The little princess was cut from a piece of very old Dovecraft paper then adhered, again. with foam pads.
'Amy' was cut from pink glittercard and adhered to the extension over some very pretty glittery white ribbon. 'Happy Birthday' cut from glittercard was adhered to a scalloped embossed oval and adhered to the card base with foam pads to create the 'stop'. A sprinkling of mini Prima flowers, some pink pearls and a corner flower arrangement complete the card

A Car For Kabir....

The delightful son of some friends of ours was five on Friday. We attended his party at a fab Indian restaurant in Harrow and had a great time. Both No1 & No2 sons came too, much to Kabir's delight...he adores both of them.
Searching for papers for this card I realised that I have next to no papers suitable for little boy cards..I'm going to have to raid the shops new season papers tomorrow! I'm sure we've got some somewhere!
Anyway back to the card. It's an Easy Easel, but can't help you with the papers I'm afraid..I've had them for yonks and don't know who they are by. I cut a large '5' and shadowed it with red crdstock. The car was cut from mirri card with brads for handles and wheel hubs. I added red velvet ric-rac for a bumpy road effect and adhered the car at a jaunty angle with foam pads. 'Kabir' & 'Happy Birthday' were cut from blue glittercard and shadowed in red. These were adhered to the card with foam pads. Some shiny red Candy Dots complete the card.

Deer shutter.....

This is the first shutter card that I made and it took me ages to make it, but it was worth it as I'm really pleased with it. I used Dovecraft Papers that are foiled with gold, and gold mirri for matting & layering. I cut the deer from more gold mirri and added a red gem for it's nose. The deer was mounted onto a scalloped oval and embellished with a poinsetta and gold punched holly. Warm Winter Wishes was adhered to the red panel (this time without it's shadow) and a couple more punched holly bunched were added to the corners along with more red gems for berries.
