Nana's 80th.......

No.1 son's girlfriend's dad asked me to make a card for his mum's 80th birthday and this is what I came up with. It's an 8" square lattice front card. I cut the card with aperture from white card and used some freebie papers to decorate. The lattice was cut from pink textured cardstock, fixed over the aperture then neatened with a frame cut from contrasting patterned paper. The frame was embellished with a satin bow, a couple of Cheery Lyn die cut flourishes and paper roses and a medium sized silky rose. '80' was cut from shimmer cardstock and adhered to a scalloped circle which was adhered to the centre of the lattice. Pearls adhered to the intersections on the lattice completes the card.

You're SEW Special!.......

We all like a freebie right? Who wouldn't? I used a freebie on this card- the SEW special sentiment stamp. It was a cover freebie with Cardmaking & Papercraft, and I thought it would be ideal for this card. The card base is a C5 and the papers are
Papermania. The dress was cut from floral paper and embellished with teeny buttons and a paper bloom, then adhered to the card front with foam pads. I added a red satin ribbon and bow pierced with a floral pin, three small buttons and the sentiment matted onto a scalloped circle. I also added a flower and punched leaves to the sentiment.

Isabelline Best Wishes.....

Pink Petticoat has a new collection called 'Isabelline' and it is just lovely. It has a colour pallete of soft greys and yellow with a hint of black, and I just had to have it! Like I need anymore designer paper! For this card I used four different papers. The card base is a C5 covered with yellow dot paper and one of the corners was rounded off with a corner rounder. A central panel received the same treatment on all four corners. I added a leafy flourish from Cheery Lyn Designs, a yellow Prima rose, and a couple of small WOC roses. Best Wishes was cut from black pearlised card and adhered with foam pads. A satin bow pierced with a heart pin (I added a silver bugle bead to the end of the pin to prevent injury) and a smattering of pearls completes the card.

Musical Lattice.....

Our friends' son Rubin was 23 on the 11th of this month and this is the card that I made for him. It's another lattice card, this time with musical notes as the central panel. The card base is an 8" square (or thereabouts!) cut from a piece of A3 cardstock. The papers are from my stash and are so old that I can't tell you who made them! I covered the card front with a grey patterned paper, then added a frame covered with cassettes (remember them?!) The musical lattice was cut from black mirri and fixed to the front of the card before the frame was adhered with foam tape. A guitar cut from black and peacock blue mirri card was adhered to the side of the frame, and 'Rubin' and 'Happy Birthday' cut from the same mirri card colours as the guitar were adhered with foam tape across the card and in the bottom right corner. Green paper in the same design as the grey paper was adhered inside the card behind the musical notes. A smattering of punched stars completes the card.

Teddy mermaid......

I've got a kiddie's card for you today. This little mer-ted is so cute! I used a C5 card base, and popped her onto a shell cut from pearlised card. The white part of the shell was embossed with a swirl embossing folder. The teddy body was cut from textured cardstock and the tail from cheap shimmer paper from The Range and holographic paper. The shell bra was cut from pearlised card and the little harp from silver mirri and holographic paper. I added a punched star to her head. 'Happy Birthday' was cut from the same paper as the tail and adhered flat. A smattering of pearls completes the card.

For a beautiful bride.........

I've got a wedding card for you today, but this one is just for the bride. I really love this dress! It could easily be a prom dress too. This card is an 8x8 square and the papers are Dovecraft's 'Back to Basics 4'. This paper is a beautiful soft powder blue with cream flowers and vines. I kept the layout simple as I didn't want to detract from the dress. I simply added a punched strip with ribbon and bow across the middle of the card, and topped it with a scalloped oval cut from white pearlised card. I added an oval of patterned paper (again from the pack) to the scalloped oval to make the dress 'pop'. The dress overskirt was cut from white pearlised cardstock, and the underskirt cut from ivory pearlised cardstock. I used the blackout function for the underskirt as I didn't want the holes that were cut into it, although I did cut out the loops on the sash by hand. I embossed the overskirt and adhered it flat to the underskirt. I added pearls around the neck, waist and slit in the skirt and some glittery swirls to the frills on the underskirt. The finished dress was adhered to the oval with foam pads. I added some flowers and die cut fronds to the oval, and a computer-generated sentiment matted onto patterned paper and pearlised cardstock to the opposite side of the oval. A WOC  large pearl adorns the bow and a smattering of pearls completes the card.

Beautiful apertures.......

I found the most beautiful card over at Becca Feeken's blog www.amazingpapergrace.com and just had to have a go at making one myself. Becca uses Spellbinders on her cards but I used Cricut cuts where she used dies. I love Becca's cards. They are always so intricate and elegant. For my version of Becca's card, I cut a base card with an aperture at 7 3/4" using the 24" mat then covered the front with peach coloured paper. I then cut a trellis from textured cardstock and adhered it across the aperture. A frame, cut from patterned paper was adhered over the trellis with foam tape. I added a satin bow to the frame before I stuck it down, then decorated it with a floral arrangement in the opposite corner and a trio of pearls in the remaining corners. I also added a pearl to the intersections of the trellis.

On the inside of the card I added a piece of patterned paper, but only adhered it along one edge so that there is room on the inside back of the card to write a message. I then cut a smaller solid shape topped with a Pink Petticoat sentiment and adhered it to the centre of the trellis with foam pads. I am beyond chuffed with the result!
