Floral Happy Birthday

I didn't like this card at all as I was making it. I don't know why- it just wasn't doin' it for me!!!Ever get days like that? Anyway I persevered with it and by the time it was finished I really liked it! Do you want to know what swung it? The leaves behind the flowers!!! They just seemed to pull it all together somehow! This paper is from another Papermania pack called Spring Burst. It's purple and green and a mix of florals & spots. I layered up a panel of purple floral paper onto green , adding a strip of ribbon, and then a smaller square of spotty green onto white & green. I then cut a square panel of white textured card and added a flocked sentiment to it. A layered flower and die-cut leaves were added to the bottom left-hand corner and three gems to each of the other corners. A bow was added to finish it off.

A Wish Came True

I wanted to use these sentiments and thought that they would suit an Engagement and Wedding card. The cards are almost the same except for the shape & sentiment. I used embossed paper from Doodlebug Designs and scalloped the bottom edge with a Fiskars border punch. Ribbon and a bow were then added just above the scallops. This panel was layered over a paper panel cut slightly smaller than the white panel. The sentiment was cut in 2 colours- either cream & pink or cream & blue, and layered onto a grey shadow. I then added layered flowers co-ordinating with the sentiment colours, and flat-backed pearls (Gunmetal Papermania pearls for the blue card) to finish off. The centres of the blue flowers are punched stars from the same card as the sentiment.

On the wings of love

I had the idea for this card in my head for ages and when I got hold of this free paper download from Funky Fairy I knew that it would be perfect for it! I cut out a scalloped rectangle and layered up the heart paper onto white card. This panel was layered onto the scalloped rectangle with large foam pads. I cut out the envelope and wings from white card and then ran them through the Xyron and applied Glamour Dust glitter. The backing for the envelope is pearlised card with a dotty pattern on it which doesn't show up on the photo. I added a small heart punched from red glitter paper to the envelope. The sentiment is a negative cut ( I wanted to try something different!). To do this, put a long strip of card onto your mat and spell each word out leaving a good gap between each one to allow for trimming e.g on the wings of , then remove the strip from the mat, discard the letters and then trim each word. I used a larger word and different font for 'LOVE'
Then all you do is layer up the pieces onto coloured card, in this case black (red for the LOVE panel) so that the colour shows through. It's just a different way of utilising the cuts!
A couple of extra punched hearts adorn the LOVE panel. The winged letter is raised on foam pads.

You & Me

Sorry if I'm boring you with this paper but I love using it! A couple of cards for boyfriend & girlfriend to give each other! I made the boyfriend's card less fussy than the other one, omitting ribbon and more femine embellishments, and saved those for the other card. Just a simple 'me & you' sentiment was used. I went with the colours on the paper choosing a choccie brown for the boy and a candy pink for the girl. I added punched hearts to the figures and above the heart on the male card. Double-faced ribbon ( I just happened to have the perfect colour!) and bows were added to the female card along with a scalloped border using a Martha Stewart punch . Would a stockist please make these available over here-pretty please!!! They are available from the States, quite reasonably priced, but the shipping is about $11!!!!

Luurve!!!

Here's another card made with the new Papermania 'Scrumptious' pack. Again a large square card, layered up with heart paper and cream and pink cardstock. A scalloped circle and a heart in contrasting papers were used as embellishments. Tiny pink gems again from Papermania were added to the scallops. A wide satin ribbon was wrapped around the paper panel and the scalloped circle adhered flat over it. The heart was raised on foam pads and a ribbon bow attached with a glue dot. Three heart shaped pink gems adorn the ribbon. 'Love' was cut from cream cardstock and adhered in the space above the scalloped circle & heart. I glittered it to finish it off. Very simple but pretty don't you think? These papers are gorgeous and really good quality and the different patterns give you a wide range of options, as they are suitable for other occasions besides Valentines day!
