One today!

Sometimes I like to add another element to my mainly Cricut generated cards and I'd had this lovely sticker for yonks and thought that it would go very well on this card!
I added the sticker by MAMBI (I think!) to a white circle that I then mounted onto lime green. The 'one today' sentiment was passed through a Xyron & glittered with glamour dust. I added ribbon, tiny button brads & some paper piercing around the purple panel. I think this is cute don't you?!

A little bird told me......

When I saw this little birdie I just had to use it! It's one of 3 different birds but this is by far the cutest!
The background paper is by DCWV and the white panel is Bazzil Swiss Dots. The blooms are from my stash, the pink felt ribbon is by Papermania. I glittered the bird & the white circle with glamour dust. I added some tiny Papermania gems to the petals of the large blue flower that the bird sits on.

Thinking of you!

I found this papd of 6X6 papers from K & Co after a desperate hunt! I knew I had them but could I find them ?! I'm telling you, I have WAAAAY too much stash and can't find anything when I want it! Does that ever happen to you?
The colours on this paper are very muted lilacs, pale lime green and aqua. I chose aqua as the dominant colour and added a splash of lime green with the ribbon & blooms. Cart used:

Call Me!

These cards both have the same image & sentiment but very different looks. The tent topper card is made with Pink Petticoat papers and the pastel card with papers from K & Co.

Boozy Birthday!

This card is for the son of some friends of ours. He's 19 on 11th Feb. The images & background papers are downloads from Madaboutcards.com. I printed out the images on photo paper and matted & layered them. I chose a piece of contrasting paper (DCWV self-adhesive paper) and layered everything up. The blue alphabet bubbles spell 'RUBIN'. I added an appropriate sentiment and it was done.

Celebrate!

When I saw this paper I thought WOW! It's from a pack by Dovecraft called Kitten Heels. It has lovely drawings of ladies (& a couple of fellas!) and matching backing papers. The actual paper was too big (the image takes up a whole 6x6 piece) so I reduced it by 25% on the photocopier & it fit just right! I'd also bought this paper by Sandylion called Floral Delight & the colours complimented each other to a tee! I matted & layered the image on green(yes green! The man's cummerbund is green)) orange & brown card. I then cut a piece of contrasting paper and scalloped it with a Fiskars punch and layered it over orange. A piece of green satin ribbon & a bow, lime green gems, a sentiment and a layered flower complete the picture.

Anniversary wishes

This is the card that I made for my DH for our Anniversary last week. I used papers that I bought from the States again. I used 3 panels of different papers, some punched hearts, a button, brads and Safmat. The verse on the front & the sentiment were printed onto Safmat and applied to the panel & tag. A little paper piercing around the centre panel finish it off.

These two cards are based on sketch by Amy over at Prairie Paper & Ink (prairiepaperandink.typepad.com) On her card the panel was stamped with luscious chocolate covered strawberries but I chose to put a sentiment there instead. The paper is from pads bought from the States, ribbon & paper from my stash.

Missing you

These cards were based on a design I found on my daily blog trawl & for the life of me I can't remember who's blog it was. If you recognise it please let me know & I will acknowledge you!!! The paper is again from pads I bought in the States from A.C. Moore's. The only difference in the layout is the sentiment panel, & colour choice (well obviously!) I added paper pricking again for a little extra definition.

Floral Mum

I found the layout for this card over on Christine's blog (creativejourney.typepad.com) and really like it. I have another card made with the same layout but forgot to snap it so I'll show that one later. I used paper from a pad I bought in the States. The vertical panel is scalloped at both ends and laid over the horizontal panel. A satin ribbon & bow adorn it. I added flowers & leaves, and red gems from Papermania. MUM was cut from aqua card stock, run through a Xyron X & glittered. I added a little paper pricking to define the right top & bottom corners.

Love heart cascade

This card looks quite simple but I made it difficult by choosing to decorate each heart in a different way! Won't be repeating that exercise any time soon!
The hearts & sentiment were cut in 3 colours dark, medium & light pink. I used the dark pink heart cascade as a base and cut hearts from the other two to decorate it with. The hearts are either glittered or flocked as is the sentiment which was made in the same way. I then stuck them together . A simple panel background of Papermania Scrumptious collection paper, a velvet ribbon bow and heart shaped gems complete the card.

Heart cascade & sentiment- Wild Card. Make sure that you have the Real Dial Size button on when you cut these.

Gone...but never forgotten

Sadly, my boss Jennie lost her beautiful red setter Candy on Thursday. She was understandably very upset so I made her this card keeping my fingers crossed that it wouldn't make everything worse. Thankfully she loved it!
I've had this paper for an age (it's Basic Grey I think) and it seemed ideal for this card - it's got kiddies & doggies on it. I hand drew & cut the paw print as I couldn't find one on a cartridge. I then cut it into a circle with a Coluzzle template. I mounted it onto a scalloped circle and added a bow. The scalloped edge is Martha Stewart punch and the ribbon & flower are from my stash. I cut the sentiment in capitals for 'GONE' & lower case for the rest.

Coming of Age!

These cards were made as commissions at the shop where I work. One was for a sea-faring lass in the RN and one for an all singin', all dancin' gal from Germany! The card for Stephanie was decorated with 3 medallions bearing nautical images- an anchor, a compass & a sail boat. I added gem stones to the 18 to bling it up a little! Anna's card was designed to look like a dressing room mirror. The girl who it was for had taken the leading role on stage in The Sound of Music in Germany- hence the SOM album cover & sheet music in the bottom left corner. You can see me in the mirror whilst I was taking the photo! I added a key attached with pink ribbon. I added flat backed pearls around the frame as light bulbs. Both ladies who commissioned the cards were thrilled with them (I'm glad to say!)

Floral Happy Birthday

I didn't like this card at all as I was making it. I don't know why- it just wasn't doin' it for me!!!Ever get days like that? Anyway I persevered with it and by the time it was finished I really liked it! Do you want to know what swung it? The leaves behind the flowers!!! They just seemed to pull it all together somehow! This paper is from another Papermania pack called Spring Burst. It's purple and green and a mix of florals & spots. I layered up a panel of purple floral paper onto green , adding a strip of ribbon, and then a smaller square of spotty green onto white & green. I then cut a square panel of white textured card and added a flocked sentiment to it. A layered flower and die-cut leaves were added to the bottom left-hand corner and three gems to each of the other corners. A bow was added to finish it off.

A Wish Came True

I wanted to use these sentiments and thought that they would suit an Engagement and Wedding card. The cards are almost the same except for the shape & sentiment. I used embossed paper from Doodlebug Designs and scalloped the bottom edge with a Fiskars border punch. Ribbon and a bow were then added just above the scallops. This panel was layered over a paper panel cut slightly smaller than the white panel. The sentiment was cut in 2 colours- either cream & pink or cream & blue, and layered onto a grey shadow. I then added layered flowers co-ordinating with the sentiment colours, and flat-backed pearls (Gunmetal Papermania pearls for the blue card) to finish off. The centres of the blue flowers are punched stars from the same card as the sentiment.

Both sentiments- StoryBook

On the wings of love

I had the idea for this card in my head for ages and when I got hold of this free paper download from Funky Fairy I knew that it would be perfect for it! I cut out a scalloped rectangle and layered up the heart paper onto white card. This panel was layered onto the scalloped rectangle with large foam pads. I cut out the envelope and wings from white card and then ran them through the Xyron and applied Glamour Dust glitter. The backing for the envelope is pearlised card with a dotty pattern on it which doesn't show up on the photo. I added a small heart punched from red glitter paper to the envelope. The sentiment is a negative cut ( I wanted to try something different!). To do this, put a long strip of card onto your mat and spell each word out leaving a good gap between each one to allow for trimming e.g on the wings of , then remove the strip from the mat, discard the letters and then trim each word. I used a larger word and different font for 'LOVE'
Then all you do is layer up the pieces onto coloured card, in this case black (red for the LOVE panel) so that the colour shows through. It's just a different way of utilising the cuts!
A couple of extra punched hearts adorn the LOVE panel. The winged letter is raised on foam pads.

You & Me

Sorry if I'm boring you with this paper but I love using it! A couple of cards for boyfriend & girlfriend to give each other! I made the boyfriend's card less fussy than the other one, omitting ribbon and more femine embellishments, and saved those for the other card. Just a simple 'me & you' sentiment was used. I went with the colours on the paper choosing a choccie brown for the boy and a candy pink for the girl. I added punched hearts to the figures and above the heart on the male card. Double-faced ribbon ( I just happened to have the perfect colour!) and bows were added to the female card along with a scalloped border using a Martha Stewart punch . Would a stockist please make these available over here-pretty please!!! They are available from the States, quite reasonably priced, but the shipping is about $11!!!!

Luurve!!!

Here's another card made with the new Papermania 'Scrumptious' pack. Again a large square card, layered up with heart paper and cream and pink cardstock. A scalloped circle and a heart in contrasting papers were used as embellishments. Tiny pink gems again from Papermania were added to the scallops. A wide satin ribbon was wrapped around the paper panel and the scalloped circle adhered flat over it. The heart was raised on foam pads and a ribbon bow attached with a glue dot. Three heart shaped pink gems adorn the ribbon. 'Love' was cut from cream cardstock and adhered in the space above the scalloped circle & heart. I glittered it to finish it off. Very simple but pretty don't you think? These papers are gorgeous and really good quality and the different patterns give you a wide range of options, as they are suitable for other occasions besides Valentines day!

I adore you!

I 'adore' this card! I used the new Home Decor cart for this. I wanted to make a card with the word 'adore' on it & was sure that I had a cart with this word on it but could I find it?! So when this cart came into the shop on Wednesday I snaffled it! It is a huge 8x8 square tent fold. I used papers from the new Pink Petticoat download collection, Old Fashioned Girl. I layered up a love sentiment paper onto black & red cardstock and attached a ribbon bow. I glittered up a red heart brad (just cover it with glue-I used a glue pen- & dip it into glitter. Glue dots works too) I cut out a heart and covered it with Bronte script paper (PP download) and shadowed it with black cardstock. I added another glittered heart brad. The sentiment was cut from red card and shadowed with black. 'Adore' was covered with red Stickles.

Sweet on you!

This card is made with the new Papermania 12x12 pack. It's quite a large square - 8x8. I layered up some love hearts sweety paper with dark pink, cream & brown Bazzil. A ribbon with a bow & heart-shaped brad was added before being adhered to the card base. I cut out a gorgeous cupcake from the new Home Decor Solutions cart ,which has a sugar sprinkle top- you can't see from the photo but it is glittered! After cutting out the top I ran it through the Xyron -pattern side down- then sprinkled it with glamour dust glitter. I cut the cake case from silver mirri and layered it all up onto a brown shadow and added a tiny pink heartshaped brad to the heart shaped hole in the top of the cake. I then cut a sentiment with a brown shadow- the 'sweet' is also glittered- and placed it all around the cupcake.

Love you

When I saw these new Papermania 12x12's I just had to have them. Although they are strictly speaking Valentine papers you could use some of them for other occasions too. I went with pink & brown for this card. It's a tent fold which I covered with plain brown paper. I then scalloped a piece of pink Bazzil with Fiskars border embossing punch and then adhered a strip of heart paper onto it leaving a small border at the top. I wrapped brown satin ribbon around it and then added a bow. The panel was raised on large foam pads. I added a heart made with another design from the pack and some pink & brown card and embellished it with a layered flower & brad. I cut out a sentiment * added three pink heart gems. Very simple but pretty don't you think?

Happy Birthday Daniel!

This is No1 son's friends card.He is a twin-Becky is his sister (card in next post down). Dan has a habit of having a very good time (get my drift?!) so Krishnan (No1 son) thought this card would be ideal! I used some papers downloaded from Madaboutcards, and reproduced an element from one of them to produce this road sign. I used a circle and triangle for which I used the silhouette feature, cut the numbers and letters for the name and printed the sentiment on the computer. It's not clear on the photo but the numbers in the white portion of the triangle read 80%! A black brad in each corner finish it off. The background paper has 18's in red circles all over it. It also comes in 21,40 etc along with some very humourous and quite raunchy road signs!

Becky's Birthday

No.1 son has some very close friends who are twins (brother & sister) It was their birthday on Thursday so this No1 in a set of two. This is Becky's card (well duuh!!!) I used some old Dovecraft paper for the background and some Crafttime glitter paper for the name & number 18. The scalloped edge to the pink card was done with a Fiskars Border Embossing punch. I layered up some velvet flowers (Prima I think) over a satin bow with a brad. The 18 was finished off with some gem flowers, again from Crafttime from The Papermill Shop.

Baby Blessings

Who doesn't like making baby cards? I made one very similar to this for my niece Terri when she had her new baby girl Holli just before Christmas. I used DCWV Nana's Nursery (boy & girl stacks) for these cards. I used 4 different designs of paper, matting and layering them. I cut a scalloped circle to hold the pram which was cut twice- once from silver mirri and once from polka dot paper. The silver outline pram was then stuck onto the dotty pram. I wrapped ribbon around the panel and added a flower trimmed bow with a brad. Three miniature buttons and a sentiment finish it off. I don't know whether you can make it out but the scalloped border beneath the flower has been punched and embossed with a Martha Stewart border punch but a Fiskar's punch would suffice or even scalloped scissors!

Vicki's 18th card

Happy New Year everyone!!! Back to the old grindstone and getting out of the Christmas card rut! My kids keep me really busy with birthday cards. Here is another for No1 son to give to his friend Vicki for her birthday. No1 son has not had an 18th party yet simply due to the fact that he is one of the eldest in his class (he'll be nearly 19 when he leaves school!) and nearly all of his friends are still 17 and of course they cannot drink (legally at any rate) so he has informed me that when the last one is 18 they are going to rock the south coast with one humdinger of a mass 18th party! Well....we'll see!!!!
Anyway, back to the card. I've upped the size for my cards and am now making 8x6. They give you a larger canvas to work on and with the new Cricut cartridges getting more and more intricate you need to cut at larger sizes. For this card I used a freebie paper from Crafts Beautiful, matted onto lime green card. '18' was cut from a contrast paper from the same free booklet and shadowed with lime green again. 'Vicki' was cut from lime green card, run through the Xyron X and flocked with papermania Spring collection glitter flocking powder (don't say that when you've had a pop or two!)'happy birthday' and 'th' were cut from pink paper (I find paper better to cut with for smaller letters) and the whole thing arranged as you can see. When I was happy with the placement I stuck it all down. The '18' and 'Vicki' are raised on foam pads. Some prima flowers with glittered brads finish it off. Don't spend a fortune on glittered brads- simply cover the head of a brad with an appropriate sized glue dot, mould it around then dip the sticky head into a pot of glitter or flock and hey presto! Glittered brads!
Hope you like it!!
