Merry Christmas Stacey......

Before I begin, I apologise for the photo (it's slightly out of focus) and I hope you all had a great Christmas and are now looking forward to the New Year. I don't normally post Christmas cards because all the cards that I make at this time of year are for my workshops and then they go to the people on my Christmas card list. My last workshop was on 19th December this year so I've only just sent my last batch of cards (naughty, naughty me!)
I had a commission before Christmas to make three cards- for a weightlifter, domestic goddess and a high-maintenance girlfriend! You can probably guess who the card above was for. I reckoned that high maintenace girlfriends LOVE, nay DEMAND presents, so I created a present stack with a couple of gifts on show. The card base is an A4 and the papers are from Creative Cardmaking magazine. The boxes were created from different types of gold card, embossed and decorated with ribbon bows. I cut a handbag from red glittercard with a gold handle and a gold glittery shoe with red floral embellishment. 'Merry Christmas' & 'Stacey' were cut from gold glittercard and adhered to the card with foam pads. A trio of punched red, glittery stars completes the card.
Carts used:
Boxes- George & Basic Shapes
Handbag- Suburbia
Shoe- Forever Young
Merry Christmas- Wild Card (RDS on)
Stacey- Winter Woodland
I'll be back soon with another of the trio of cards
Thanks for looking!

An equine birthday......

My brother Nick had his birthday on 12th December. Now he and his wife Lisa look after a horse called Smurf- they've kind of adopted it- and I thought that a horse would be perfect for his card. This is a rather grand horse, more of a dray-horse than a showjumper methinks! I cut the horse from black pearlised cardstock (this is the simplest version from the handbook) and the livery was cut from gold and ivory pearlised cardstock. I added an 'S' for Smurf to the saddle. The papers in shades of black, gold and ivory are from Dovecraft. 'NICK' was cut from black pearlised card shadowed with gold mirri, and the sentiment and brackets were cut from gold mirri. All elements were adhered with foam pads.
Horse- A Quilted Christmas
'Nick' & 'Happy Birthday'- George & Basic Shapes
Brackets- Sphisticated

A teddy for Holli.....

The day I flew to India my little great-niece Holli had her 4th birthday. I made her a teddy bear birthday card using this cute fairy bear. The bear body was cut from textured cardstock, and I added some small googly-eyes and eyelashes for a realistic effect. The clothes were cut from glittercard and the crown and wand from silver mirri. The wings were cut from spotted, glittered vellum from Papermania. The card base is an 8" square offset gatefold, and the papers are Dovecraft. The bear was adhered with foam pads to a central panel on the front of the card, along with the '4' and 'today' cut from pink glittercard. The '4' was adhered with foam pads and 'today' was adhered flat. 'Holli' cut from more pink glittercard was adhered vertically to the right hand narrow gatefold panel with foam pads.
A smattering of punched, glittery hearts completes the card.
Carts used:
Teddy fairy- Teddy Bear Parade
4, today & Holli- Lyrical Letters (Jumbo font. 4 cut in shadow mode)

Where has Jiminy been?........

Hi everyone!! I've been a long time posting because I've been in India! My hubby did his medical training in the Indian army at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune, and this year they celebrated the 50th year of the college. One of my hubby's classmates is now the Dean of the college so it made the celebrations extra special. It was wonderful for him to catch up with all his classmates and meet the wives too.

We stayed in the Taj Blue Diamond hotel in Pune and to my surprise it was bedecked in Christmas decorations including this splendid tree. I had almost forgotten how near to Christmas it was until I saw the tree!

We went out every evening for dinner to the Officer's Mess and of course we had to dress up. This is us (hubby and I are at the end on the right) in the hotel lobby just before leaving for dinner.
I couldn't finish this post without leaving you with something crafty. I made some pretty little boxes to give as gifts to friends. The boxes were cut from double-sided heavyweight paper. The apertures were covered with acetate, then the boxes were filled with four rose-scented tea light candles. I added a sheer bow, paper rose, die cut leaf and a stamped tag.

Aged to perfection!......

Number 1 son's girlfriend Sofia asked me to make her a card to give to her Dad on his 50th birthday. She left the design to me and this is what I came up with. The card base is an 8" square and the papers are from Papermanias Elegance A4 pad. The papers were matted onto black cardstock, the central panel being raised on foam pads. The bottle was cut from dark green pearlescent card with lighter green highlight. The label was cut from gold cardstock and I added 'DAD' and the 'vintage' cut from black mirri. '50' was cut from gold cardstock shadowed with black and adhered with foam pads, and 'aged to perfection' was cut from black mirri and adhered flat.
I added a label stamped with a happy birthday sentiment with bow embellishment and three gold card candi to finish.

Groovy @ 50!!!!

Back in September our friend Adele was 50 and she had a 70's themed party. Unfortunately we couldn't go but I sent this 'groovy' card instead! The card base is a C5 and I used some funky paper from my stash for the background and some irridescent, colour changing paper for the off-set panel (the paper changes colour when you tip the card back and forth) I added a large pink daisy topped with a velvet bloom and floral brad behind the panel, and a groovy girl cut from brown glittercard. All the elements of the sentiment were cut from glittercard and adhered with foam pads. An acrylic flower sticker to the centre of the '0' completes the card.
Groovy man!!!

Friendship's garden.......

I have been informed by my aunty that I'm not updating my blog enough. I hereby declare that I will try harder to blog on a more regular basis!
This card was one that I made for my last set of workshops. It was a very popular one with my ladies, I have to say. I found this friendship quote on t'internet and thought that it would look great inside this lych gate. The gate and fence were cut from white pearlescent cardstock and decorated with lots of teeny flowers punched from more pearlescent cardstock using a Martha Stewart Hydrangea punch. The gate was adhered with foam pads to a piece of patterned paper (leaving the gates unstuck) which was matted onto coloured cardstock with satin ribbon trim and bow. The sentiment was computer generated onto Safmat and adhered inside the gate arch. A smattering of pearls completes the card.
