Dream.....

To be quite honest there's not a whole lot of anything Buggy going on on this card, but I had an idea based on the Tim Holtz Bingo card embossing folder, and a vintage image and thought that the sentiment fitted it perfectly. That bingo card was made with card from the old Paper Mill boxes which are no longer in use (they've gone back to their old, much missed, full ream boxes! Yaay!), so don't throw them away..they are like Kraft cardstock and it embosses bee-a-ootifully! I used vintage look papers, a vintage photo image, Prima-style flowers that I made myself using a punch/emboss system and a hat pin. I cut 'dream' from cream cardstock and glittered it lightly after adhereing it to the card. I added a sage green ribbon and bow adding the hat pin before I adhered it to the card. When using hat pins I always put a silver bugle bead on the end to prevent puncture accidents! A scattering of pearls and a punched border and another flower inside the card are the finishing touches.

Anyone for tennis?....

Here's a couple more topical sport cards..this time tennis. Again I made one for gals and one for the guys. The cards were made in exactly the same way as yesterday's cards. I used double-sided Bo-Bunny papers, using the reverse side for the bottom portion of the card. I added a silver mirri tennis racquet to the gal's card and I also flipped the guy. These cards are best done in a minimal palette with splashes of black.

COME ON ENGER-LAND!!!!!!......

As I type we are 1 goal down.. same old, same old! Oh well, all is not lost! Good Luck lads..you're gonna need it! Anyhoo, onto the cards. Very topical wouldn't you say? I made 2 of these..one for the lads and one for the lassies. I used the same card base that I used for the Father's Day card posted last week. I used footy word papers for the top portion of the cards and grass paper (DCWV) for the lad card and plain green paper for the lassies card. I cut large footballs for both cards adhered with foam pads and the footballers (lad footballer was flipped) cut from black bazzill with red strip. I cut extra, smaller footballs for embellishments. For the lad card I cut a football border topped with 'Score' ( Whoops ..2 down now!) which was adhered with foam tape to form the stop. For the girl's card I cut 'I Love Soccer' in white shadowed with black and a red heart, for the stop. Yaay! 2-1! I cut 'Happy Birthday' shadowed with black and adhered with foam pads. Bigger Yaay! 2-2!

Happy Birthday Lauren!.....

It was my niece Lauren's birthday yesterday, she was 14, and this is the card that I made for her. She's very fashion conscious so I think this card will have suited her down to the ground. I've got so much mileage from this cart , it's ridiculous! I used g.c.d Eye Candy papers and a slightly different type of card base. I used a standard A5 card but chopped off about 3" from the front leaving a narrow strip which I edged with an MS punch. I covered the inside back of the card with the 'eye candy' script paper and the front with a narrow panel of psychedelic paper topped with another patterned panel which was attached with foam tape. I added a '14' cut from purple glittercard and a model dressed in pink and purple with the addition of a belt made from peel-offs and jewellery made from small gems. 'Lauren' was cut from purple glittercard and adhered with foam pads. I added 3 small Primas with gem centres. I also added gems to the holes in the punched border. Happy Birthday cut from more purple glittercard finishes the card.

Alice......

No 2 son went to a friend's party last Saturday and this is the card that I made for her. I've used this layout before, and being pushed for time, I went with a tried & trusted formula. I used K & Co papers on a diagonal-cut front card which was embellished with an MS punch. I added a punched ribbon trimmed border and a large flower which was partly obscured by the border. I cut the model from black card and dressed her in a turquoise print jumpsuit. I added a belt, and jewellery made from fine silver cord. I also added some shoes cut from scraps. 'Alice' was cut from pink pearlised card as was the no. 17. The number was mounted onto a scalloped circle and 'Happy Birthday' cut from the same pearlised card was adhered in the centre of the inside of the card.

Cameo Shadow Box....

Here's another shadow box idea for you. This time I used an elegant cameo which would make a great gift for your mum, a favourite aunt, sister or best friend. The box was made in exactly the same way as the previous two that I've posted. I used Papermania Rose Garden paper and positioned the frame cut so that I could get that rose in the bottom left hand corner. I cut a scalloped oval topped by an embossed plain oval to hold the cameo, which was cut from pink glitter card. This was adhered with 3 layers of foam pads. The oval was finished with some roses & leaves and a sheer swirl printed bow topped by a heart button with the shank removed.

My sweetie pie......

Some more freebie papers today, again from Creative Cardmaking (so not strictly speaking free, but you know what I mean!) I used fruity papers for this one, namely cherries, and complemented them with gingham and washed pink paper. The front of the card was covered with pink washed paper and a gingham panel, matted onto a punched white mat was adhered over the top. Cherry print paper was added to another MS punched mat, wrapped with red polka dot ribbon and adhered with foam tape over the gingham panel. A cherry pie was cut from silver mirri (for the pie tin) and tan & red bazill for the pie crust and filling. I shaded the pie crust with brown marker and a blending pen to add dimension and then glittered the pie filling.Yummy! The pie was adhered with foam pads to a scalloped circle and 'sweetie pie, cut from green and red bazzill, was adhered below it. I glittered the sentiment and the cherry after it was adhered to the card. The front of the card was finished with red & green card candy. I added 'my' with tiny rub-ons above the sentiment. The inside was decorated with another piece of cherry print paper decorated with a MS punch and a sentiment panel- I used a corner punch on the panel which I dug out of a box, and haven't used in yonks if ever!

Happy Dad's Day.....

Hope you all celebrated your Dad yesterday and told him how much you love him! Sadly, my Dad is no longer with us, he died almost a year ago, so I couldn't make him a card, but I can still make one for my boys to give to their Dad. I've been making a lot of shaped easel cards just lately, mainly thanks to the Sports Mania cart which I've made ball game based cards with, and I kept with the circular style for this one. I cut the card base plus an extra circle, then folded one half of the top back on itself, then adhered the top half of the separate circle to it. I covered both parts of the card with some very old Dovecraft paper, and added a brown off-set circle topped with a blue embossed circle. I cut the collar & tie three times, twice in card and again in striped paper. I cut the collar portion from one of the cuts, adhered the full paper collar and tie to the full card one, and then adhered the other collar with foam pads. I added a jewelled brad as a tie pin, then adhered it to the blue circle with foam pads.
I cut 'Happy', 'Dad' and 'Dad's Day' from blue card shadowed with brown, and '#1' from pale blue card shadowed with brown. These were then adhered to the card with foam pads. 'Happy Dad's Day' forms the 'stop' for the top of the card.

Baby rattles.....

Free papers come in really handy sometimes! I have a folder full of free papers from mags and I decided to use some up the other day and these papers were ideal for a couple of funky baby cards. I covered the front of the card with matted circle print paper and added a stripy, punched, ribbon wrapped border. I cut a scalloped oval from coloured card and added a cream plain oval on the blue card(white looked too stark but was ok on the pink card) adhered with foam pads. The rattle was cut from silver mirri (on the cart it doesn't have a solid centre) and I added a glittercard circle with some tiny punched hearts. The rattle was adhered to the oval with foam pads. The sentiments were cut from glittercard shadowed with coloured card. A few pearls on the oval finish the front of the card. The inside was decorated with a punched, stripey border & a heart decorated scalloped oval.

Baby Keepsake Shadow Box.....

Here's another shadow box for you. I really love the way this one turned out. I think the colours are gorgeous, and it has a vintage look about it. This box is larger than the monogrammed box- I made this one on my Expression as large as I could get it on a 12 x 12 mat, but it could still be made on the original bug. The frame was cut as a solid shape, then an aperture was cut in the centre with a metal ruler & craft knife. This box measures 9 1/2" x 7" (inc. frame). I used papers from the DCWV Linen Closet papers, lining the inside with turqouise stripes and a lovely beige/turqouise floral design for the frame. I cut the vintage pram from white textured cardstock & silver mirri. I enhanced it with a dressmakers wheel, some pearls and glitter then adhered it with foam pads to a scalloped oval. This was decorated with blown roses. 'Baby' was cut from silver mirri and adhered with foam pads below the pram.

Robotz......

I showed you a card for a little girl yesterday...what about one for a little boy? Little boys love robots right? I thought so-that's why I got this cart- so I made this lovable little chap to enhance the front of the card. That background paper is gift wrap-perfect! It has lots of primary colours on it so I made the robot to match. I covered the front of the card with a piece of the gift wrap matted onto red holographic card. You need to handle gift wrap carefully, it's not as sturdy as paper and it tears and crumples easily. I added a panel of silver pre-corrugated card and a horizontal border, both edged with decorative scissors. I cut a no 4 from star holographic card and then embossed it with a Steel Plate embossing folder. I cut the robot from black, green, red blue & silver mirri, shadowed on silver, assembled it and added some googly eyes. He was adhered to the card with foam pads. I added a wonky arrow to the border pointing to the inside of the card where I added a 'geared' circle with a smaller circle cut from more gift wrap.

5 today.....

Here's a summery little card for you! I wanted to make a 'numeral' card for a child's birthday and this floral paper from Creative Cardmaking mag fitted the bill nicely. I chose number 5 (don't know why!), cut it from white card and paper, then adhered both pieces together. I enhanced the 5 with a dressmaker's wheel and added a layered bloom and 3 cute flutterbys. The card was covered in yellow floral paper matted onto blue cardstock, a green spotted panel, and a border which was decorated with my fave MS punch. I wrapped ribbon around the border and added a bow. This was adhered to the card front with foam tape and the no 5 adhered over it. 'Today' was cut from blue glittercard and adhered flat to the spotty panel. The inside was decorated with a simple punched border and 'Happy Birthday' cut from blue card.

You make me melt!..........

Wouldn't you just love to take a chunk out of this lolly?! Look at all that chocolate dripping from that strawberry delight!!!!! It was certainly lolly weather yesterday but we've just had a downpour with brilliant sunshine-how mad is that?!!! This card was made with the scrummy Piece of Cake papers from Dovecraft and I made the lolly to match. I cut the lolly first from beige card and then used a Tombow pen and blender to colour in the stick portion to add some dimension. The lolly was then cut in pink glittercard and the chocolate portion was cut from brown glittercard and adhered to the pink portion with silicone glue. I cut a couple of extra 'drips' and these were adhered with foam pads. The front of the card was cut on a diagonal and enhanced with an MS punch. I added ribbon and a bow to the border and a large Prima bloom behind the lolly. I cut the sentiment from brown card, adhered it to the card, covered it with glue, then when dry, chucked brown glitter over it. A matted sentiment square finishes the card.

Swarm Project- Box- framed monogram.....

I hosted a Swarm yesterday and as usual I had a blast! The ladies turned out some fab cards and even fabber(??!) versions of this. I always provide the ladies with something to make during the Swarm. It's entirely up to them whether they make it on the day or take it home....yesterday everyone made one and they all did a grand job!
These boxes a really easy to meke and they can be made in different sizes and with different contents... you can really let your imagination run wild!
To make the box I cut a Matchbox tray from TTB&M in white stiff card and I cut another in paper for the liner. I constructed the box, added the liner and then put it to one side. The frame was cut from card and paper, then adhered together. A piece of thick cardstock-weight acetate was fixed behind the aperture. I cut a scalloped oval and a smaller plain oval which was then embossed with a Divine Swirl folder. The completed oval was adhered to the inside of the box. The letter was cut from card and paper, adhered together then decorated with pearl strands and a layered bloom. This was then fixed to the oval mat with 3 layers of foam pads. To fix the frame to the box I cut 4 x 1" pieces of card, folded them in half and adhered them to the top outside edges of the box, trimming them to fit, forming a ledge to rest the frame on. The frame was then adhered to the ledges, sealing the contents. To hang the box, I punched a large circle from white card and punched a smaller hole in it. This was then attached to the centre top of the box leaving a semi-circle, with the hole in it, to facilitate hanging.
Carts used:
Box base- Tags Bags Boxes & More (you can use a scoreboard for this stage instead)

The largest box than be cut on the original bug is 5 1/2" .The frame is cut 1/2" smaller.
I'll be showing you some more of these over the next few days.
Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Mwah!, Mwah!....

Here's a little bit of silliness for you to start the weekend! I've had this lovely, lip-print ribbon for yonks and have only just broken into it to make this! I used the Dovecraft Back To Basics pack and a very simple layout using 3 patterned papers. I wrapped the heart print panel with the lippy ribbon and added a sumptuous bow. I cut some Mick Jagger-ish lips from hot pink (oh yes it is!) mirror card with paler pink blackout behind. 'Mwah! mwah!' was cut in individual letters, adhered onto paler pink mirri and then cut out in one piece. These were adhered at an angle with foam pads on the square panel below the lips. I added a bloom and pink punched glittercard hearts. Another pair of lips embellish the inside of the card.

Sweetie......

Isn't this the cutest little fairy?! I decided to put her on a easel card and use the lovely Dovecraft papers from the Back To Basics pack. I used 3 different patterned papers to cover the front and base and to make 2 matted panels and the 'stop'. I cut the fairy panel from pink glittercard-boy did she NOT want to come off the mat!- and adhered her flat to an embossed scalloped oval. Her wings and the 2 hearts in 'poof!' were enhanced with glitter glue. I added a couple of flowers and some star shaped glittery beads. For the base I punched a border for the 'stop' wrapped with ribbon and a bow. I cut 'sweetie' from the same glittercard as the fairy, hand-shadowed it with white card, and then adhered it with foam pads along with 3 hearts that were waste from the fairy cut. I added a smaller scalloped rectangle behind the 'stop' for a greeting. There is a pirate on the cart so this card could be adapted for a boy with different papers and sentiment.

Truly, madly, deeply.....

First of all, apologies for the quality of the photo. No 2 son was playing on the PS3 and the curtains were closed against the sun so the light was reduced but I think that you should be able to see the card in enough detail. I made this card for my brother & SIL's anniversary last Saturday. I used paper from K & Co for this one. I covered the front of the card with an abstract floral print and adhered a smaller floral panel which was 'roughed up a bit!' To this I added a large tag with a punched border of contrast paper and a ribbon bow and a lovely Prima full blown rose. The image was cut from grey sparkle card and adhered with foam pads. I spelled out 'Truly', 'Madly' & Deeply' with Heidi rub-ons onto small pieces of card, trimmed and adhered with foam pads. The inside of the card was decorated with a simple floral strip and a Safmat computer generated sentiment.

Girly Birthday....

It was my SIL Karen's birthday last Friday and this is the card that I made for her. I used the diagonal cut front and papers from the DCWV Mango Frost stack and edged the front of the card with an MS punch. I added a horozintal panel, also punched, and decorated with orange ribbon & bow. I cut 'KAREN' from glittercard and adhered it to the panel with foam pads. Using silver holographic card, black mirri & pink glittercard I cut a lipstick, nail polish & mirror compact. The mirror compact wasn't on any cartridge so I made it using a mini card base and a few circles of mirri & peach & tan coloured Bazzill. These were adhered to the front of the card with foam pads over a large pink flower. The sentiment on the scalloped circle was generated with CRIK-IT pens from Scrappy-Go-Lucky which was coloured in, cut out with a Colluzzle template and mounted onto a scalloped circle. I then added some flowers & gems and adhered it to the card with foam pads. The inside of the card was finished with another punched border.

Thinking Of You......

Sorry I wasn't around over the weekend but we were in Swansea with some very good friends, having a lovely time and catching up on gossip.
This card is made with the same card base as the previous post but with Eastern Promise papers from Dovecraft, and I used decorative scissors around the edges. I don't DO Oriental cards but this paper is really nice and will be suitable for lots of other cards. I decided to mirror the flower paper with the embellishment so I cut out a pot from copper mirri, embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. I cut the large blooms from brown mirri and added tiny flowerheads which were sprays of artificial gypsophila from the local garden centre. I just stripped them from the plastic stems. I got tons from 2 heads for about £2. I adhered the individual flowers to each of the blooms and added a pink gem to the middle of each one. The pot was adhered to the border and the flowerheads adhered behind it. I added russet ribbon ( from the Persimmon Papermania range) to tone with paper on the inside of the card. I cut 'Thinking of you from copper mirri and adhered it to a layered circle. This was adhered flat to the inside of the card. A simple sentiment panel completes the card.

You take the cake.....

I went to The Range on Thursday and picked up 3 new Dovecraft paper packs-Back To Basics, Piece Of Cake & Eastern Promise- and this card is made with the Piece of Cake pack. Its full of yummy, cakey papers as well as standard spots & stripes. For this card I used the diagonal cut front type card, but I also cut about 3/4" off the front of the card so that it is narrower than the back. I used a MS punch along the diagonal cut edge. I covered the inside of the card with spotted pink paper and the front with the cake print paper. I also added a border enhanced with an MS punch, ribbon & layered bloom with a co-ordinating big brad at it's centre. The brads are also part of the collection. The cupcake shadow was cut from brown cardstock & the cupcake itself from pink & brown glittercard with a red glittercard cherry on the top. The completed cake was adhered the card with foam pads. I tried cutting the sentiment from glittercard but my Bug wasn't having any of it! So I gave up, not being able to bear any more wasted glittercard, and cut it from brown cardstock. After adhereing it to the card and after the glue had completely dried, I ran a glue pen over the sentiment and threw brown glitter over it. Job done! I added a white sentiment panel to the inside of the card, making it small enough not to show when the card is closed.

Rocking kids.......

I tried something a little bit different with these cards....rocking cards with rocking horses on them! I love this image and thought that it'd be a good one for a small child's birthday card. I cut a large circle (using FIT TO PAGE) from white card. If you don't have the Big Bug, you can use a dinner plate. I scored and folded it in half and covered the front half with patterned paper. I added a white punched border trimmed with ribbon, bow and layered bloom. I cut the rocking horse & rider from coloured glittercard with a white shadow then adhered it to the card. You have to get the positioning of the horse right otherwise the card will tip to one side. I cut 'Boy' & 'Girl' from white glittercard and 'birthday' from coloured paper. I adhered Girl/Boy with foam pads & 'birthday' was adhered flat. Self-adhesive pearls added to the BOY/GIRL words finish the cards.

Here's a card for that young lady in your life..or a trainee hairdresser! Isn't that a cute hairdrier?! We had a similar one YONKS & YONKS ago! For this card I used papers from the recent edition of Creative Cardmaking. I covered the front of the card with the harlequin paper and added a spotty panel matted onto a punched border. I cut another more square panel of patterned paper and matted it onto a larger punched panel. I added ribbon and gems and a large

Another key....

Here's a masculine version of the last card that I posted. The details for the cuts are the same but this time I used papers from DCWV Naturals Stack, and bronze coloured mirri card for the numbers which were embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. The shaped panel is different but from the same cart as the previous post. Instead of a flower on this one I tied a piece of leather thonging around the key and I used bronze brads (with legs removed) on the leather effect ribbon and above the shaped panel.
Hope you all had a great BH. At least the weather was good yesterday- we went to Beaulieu Motor Museum- but today the weather is c**p!
Please take a look as the previous post for the carts used on this card.
