Happy Birthday Louis........

One of the little BoyzNextDoor had a birthday at the end of September and this is the card that I made for him. I was pushed for time so needed something quick. I decided to make a concertina square card and just add the letters of his name. I started with four 6" square cards, then joined them together in a row, using strong adhesive, giving me five panels inside and a front. I added a square of blue card to each panel then topped the panels with different patterned papers from a 6" pad that was a freebie from a magazine. The front of the card holds a 'Happy Birthday' cut from dark blue glittercard.....

and the inside panels hold the letters of Louis' name cut from different colours of glittercard, adhered flat. I had some yonks old MAMBI party stickers in my stash, and used them to decorate each page and the front of the card.

Wendy......

This was another commission card that I made for Debbie for her S-I-L's 60th birthday. As usual it is an A4 card made with a Papermania 'Lucy Cromwell' 12x12 Designstax. The layout is simple with a central panel holding a huge fan. The fan was cut twice, once from patterned paper and again from silver mirri. The 'struts' were cut from the paper fan, then adhered to the silver mirri fan with foam tape. The handle of the fan was decorated with a Prima bloom, WOC cherry blossoms, pearl strands and a sheer bow. It was adhered to the centre panel with foam tape. '60' and 'Wendy' were cut from pink glittercard shadowed with silver mirri. A trio of Paper Cellar irridescent blooms with pearl centres completes the card.

Just a heads up for the ladies coming to the Swarm tomorrow at Jendenink. As we've only got two Swarms until Christmas, the cards I'll be bringing tomorrow are predominately Christmas cards. As usual you'll be able to make whatever you want, but you'll need your Christmas carts if you want to make the cards. You'll also need the following carts:
Elegant Edges
Lacy Labels
Formal Occasion
Forever Young
Life's A Party
I'm bringing in the new Quilted Christmas and all the older Christmas carts, so if you haven't got them don't worry. They'll be available to use.
Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!

ANOTHER wedding card!!!!!!......

Crikey!!!! I've made a few wedding cards in the past couple of months, Dan and Sarah's, Rohit and Izzy's and two for weddings taking place in India. This is one of the cards that went to India. I used an 8" square card base and the same papers that I used for Rohit and Izzy's. The shaped apertured panel was cut from white pearlised card and then embossed. It was mounted onto a silver mirri shadow and adhered to the centre of the card. Each of the doves was cut twice from white pearlised card, and the wings were cut from one of the doves and adhered to a complete dove with foam pads to add dimension. I repeated the process for the second dove. Both doves were then adhered with foam pads inside the aperture. A punched heart was adhered above the doves' heads. A sheer ribbon bow, white bloom, pearl strands, punched silver leaves and heart shaped pearls completes the card.

On a different subject, have you seen the new Theresa Collins 'December 25th' Christmas cartridge? It's absolutely gorgeous! It's on pre-order NOW at www.craftsulove.co.uk and will be in stock in the second week of October and it's only £29.99!!! I've ordered one and will be using it in workshops for Christmas (which start tomorrow) and also the Swarms up 'til Christmas, so if any of you out there who will be attending either workshops or Swarms I would recommend that you have a dekko of the C-u-L website and order it if you can. You won't regret it!

Welcome Home Jade......

Debbie, Hubby's secretary, commissioned me to make a card for her daughter, to welcome her home from a stay in Australia. She left the design up to me. I reckoned that her returning home would be an occasion to celebrate, and what better to celebrate with than bunting?!!! The card base is an A4 and the papers are from Tilda. I cut the bunting from pink cardstock, topping each one with white cardstock. Alternate pieces were embossed with a Swiss dot embossing folder. The letters were cut from patterned paper from the Tilda pad and adhered to the pennants. They were then threaded onto pink and white baker's twine. Each of the bunting strings were adhered to the central panel of the card and a bow and small rose adhered to each end of the strings. 'JADE' was cut from more patterned paper, adhered to white cardstock letters for stability, then adhered below the bunting with foam pads. The card was finished with self-adhesive pearls coloured with Sharpie markers to match the papers. Debbie e-mailed me to tell me that Jade loved her card, and she loves bunting too!

Ding Dong!.......

I've got a wedding card for you today. Aren't these bells gorgeous? I've not used them before and can't understand why not because they are lovely. I used papers left over from the other wedding cards that I made for Dan's and Rohit's weddings. The decorative panel is the same one that I used on the other wedding cards too. The bells were cut from silver mirri and silver pearlescent cardstock. The mirri portion of the bells was embossed with a Swiss Dot embossing folder then adhered to the the base image with foam pads. I added pearls to create the 'clappers' The bells were mounted onto a scalloped oval and embellished with a white rose, sheer bow, rose buds and pearl sprays. A heart-shaped pearl in each corner of the central panel comnpletes the card.

Musical Birthday....

No.1 son was 22 last Saturday (jeez louise!! Where does the time go?!) and I made him a very simple but effective card. I downloaded a music themed word art panel from Papercraft Inspirations magazine website for the background. It printed in gold and brown (should have been black but I think my black ink is getting low!) so I used those colours for the rest of the card. I covered an A5 card with gold mirri topped with a piece of circle print paper (looks a little like CDs), then added the word art which was matted onto more gold mirri using foam tape. I cut a guitarist from brown glittercard and adhered it to the word art with foam pads. The birthday sentiment was computer-generated onto white textured cardstock with a gold mirri '22' added, cut to shape by hand, then matted onto more gold mirri. As a finishing touch I added some gold gems to the Z on the word 'JAZZ', just visible behind the guitarist.

Birthday trio......

I had three birthdays last month to create for, my niece Terri, my SIL Lisa and our friends' daughter Amber. As they were all female cards that were required I broke out the Papermania 'Strictly Party' pack. I chose three different designs and kept the layouts very simple. For Terri's card I added a paper ribbon bow with jewelled brad and a sentiment from the pack, and her name cut from purple glittercard.

For Lisa's card I added some narrow black velvet ribbon and a rosebud. Her name and the sentiment were cut from black glittercard. A trio of pearls completes the card.

Amber's card was a side-fold DL (legal envelope) with a shortfall front, punched with an EK Success border punch. Paper ribbon from the pack was threaded through a 'diamante' buckle and adhered to the side of the card. A sentiment from the pack, a sheer bloom with pearl flower centre, and her name cut from silver glittercard completes Amber's card.
