Musical Birthday....

No.1 son was 22 last Saturday (jeez louise!! Where does the time go?!) and I made him a very simple but effective card. I downloaded a music themed word art panel from Papercraft Inspirations magazine website for the background. It printed in gold and brown (should have been black but I think my black ink is getting low!) so I used those colours for the rest of the card. I covered an A5 card with gold mirri topped with a piece of circle print paper (looks a little like CDs), then added the word art which was matted onto more gold mirri using foam tape. I cut a guitarist from brown glittercard and adhered it to the word art with foam pads. The birthday sentiment was computer-generated onto white textured cardstock with a gold mirri '22' added, cut to shape by hand, then matted onto more gold mirri. As a finishing touch I added some gold gems to the Z on the word 'JAZZ', just visible behind the guitarist.

Birthday trio......

I had three birthdays last month to create for, my niece Terri, my SIL Lisa and our friends' daughter Amber. As they were all female cards that were required I broke out the Papermania 'Strictly Party' pack. I chose three different designs and kept the layouts very simple. For Terri's card I added a paper ribbon bow with jewelled brad and a sentiment from the pack, and her name cut from purple glittercard.

For Lisa's card I added some narrow black velvet ribbon and a rosebud. Her name and the sentiment were cut from black glittercard. A trio of pearls completes the card.

Amber's card was a side-fold DL (legal envelope) with a shortfall front, punched with an EK Success border punch. Paper ribbon from the pack was threaded through a 'diamante' buckle and adhered to the side of the card. A sentiment from the pack, a sheer bloom with pearl flower centre, and her name cut from silver glittercard completes Amber's card.

Kavya's first meal.....

My hubbys friend has a beautiful baby grand-daughter called Kavya. On Sunday Kavya had her first solid food and as her parents and grandparents are Hindu they had a little ceremony (called an Annaprasana) to celebrate. I thought it fitting to create a little bowl and spoon to decorate her card with. The base card is an 8x8 square. I added some pink gingham paper and a scalloped square which holds a cute little silver bowl and spoon. The white panel was embossed with a quilting-effect embossing folder. I added Kavya's name to the bowl along with a daisy created with a punch. To finish the card I added Card Candi. A sentiment was computer generated and adhered to the card beneath the bowl....

....and look! That little spoon (complete with baby food) pops out of the bowl!!!

Rohit and Izzy's card....

As promised yesterday, here is the card that I made for Rohit and Izzy. The card is very similar to the one that I made for my nephew Dan and his wife Sarah, except that this one is an 8" square gatefold. The base card was made with two 8" cards scored down the front and adhered together at the back. The paper is Bella Wedding. The shaped panel on the front of the card was cut from white and pink pearlised card and shadowed with silver mirri. It was adhered to a square panel on the front of the card with foam pads. A scalloped oval holds two lovebirds cut from white pearlised card, and a scalloped heart. I added some pink scalloped hearts to the shaped panel for added interest. A Prima bloom, sheer bow and pearl strands were adhered above the shaped panel. A large pearl in each corner of the square panel completes the front of the card.

The inside of the card was decorated with flourishes cut from silver mirri and Paper Cellar irridescent flowers. Again I used the word 'Love' to decorate the front flap of the card that is hidden by the square panel. Those punched silver borders hide some less than perfect cutting! Wedding details were computer generated onto vellum and adhered to the front of another card, closed with a ribbon....

..which, when opened, reveals a sentiment.

I made a box to put the completed card in because it was bulky.

Another Wedding!....

On 25th August we were in Stow-On-The-Wold for another wedding. We stayed in The Unicorn Hotel, a lovely, quaint and very creaky hotel....

...and the wedding on Saturday was at Temple Guiting Manor a beautiful old mansion in the Gloucestershire countryside...

..and here are the bride (Izzy) groom (Rohit) and Rohit's proud Mum and Dad Nimmi and Gopal.

On Sunday there was an Indian wedding ceremony so I had to dress up in all my Indian finery! That's me in the middle in the purple sari with my friend Mary and her beautiful daughter Menai.

The ceremony was held in a Mandir, a canopied area...

..and here is Izzy in her wedding sari being led to the Mandir by her brother who will give her away to her husband.

Married at last!

Here are Mary and I during the reception. That's Jasmine  in our hair and the scent from it was divine!

Engaged!......

Our niece Anita texted us from the Olympic Stadium to say 'I'm engaged!' Her fiance Peter had got down on one knee and proposed! He had previously called her Dad in Australia to ask his permission. How beautifully old-fashioned and traditional is that? What a romantic Pete is! Well, since it had been a while coming I thought I'd better make them a card, and found the ideal cut, this cute ring box complete with a blingtastic ring! I cut the ring box twice, once in red cardstock and once in gold mirri (with blackout feature enabled) I passed the red cut through a Xyron machine then added red flock powder to give a velvet look to the box. The flocked portion was adhered to the mirri portion with PVA glue. The ring was cut from gold mirri and white glittercard for the diamond.

The card base is a standard C5 card, and the paper is white and gold embossed paper from my stash. The ring box was adhered to a shaped panel in the centre of the card. The panel was trimmed with narrow sheer ribbon and a rose. 'Anita & Peter' was cut from gold mirri and adhered flat above the ring box. Four red heart-shaped pearls complete the card.

The Big Day.....

Hi everyone! As promised I'm back with the card that I made for Dan & Sarah. I intended it to be a keepsake so I bought a box to put it in and decorated the front with swirls, irridescent flowers, butterflies and a 'Big Day' die-cut. A sheer bow across one corner finishes it off nicely.

The card base is an A4 gatefold made from two A4 cards adhered together then creased to form the gatefold. The papers used are double sided pearlised papers from the Bella! Wedding 'Beloved' range.

The paper was matted to fit the fronts, inside fronts and back onto silver mirri. A smaller panel was cut to fit the front. The fabulous medallion was cut from white and pale pink pearlised card and silver mirri. I added a scalloped oval to hold the large initials and a couple of embossed butterflies. The medallion was embellished with embossed hearts, a sheer bow, Prima bloom and pearl strands. The completed medallion was adhered to the smaller panel and embellished with four embossed butterflies.

The inside fronts of the card were decorated with swirls, irridescent flowers and more butterflies.....

...and the inside back holds a pocket created from a scalloped rectangle. A tag holds a wedding greeting and the pocket, details of the wedding itself computer-generated in 60% greyscale onto vellum. The vellum piece was adhered to the pocket with glue dots, and embellished with pearls.

Because the front of the card that is hidden behind the panel when the card is closed looked a bit bare, I cut the word 'Love' from silver mirri and adhered it vertically.

And finally, because we gave a cheque as a wedding pressie I made this cute envelope from white pearlised card and decorated in the same way as the box top. I scored the cardstock on a Hougie board, punched the front edge with an MS punch then added sheer ribbon before adhering the side flaps.

Dan and Sarah loved their keepsake card!
