Serene swans........

It was my brother and sister-in-law's wedding anniversary last week and this is the card that I made for them. It's a whopper at 8" square - I've taken a liking to big cards since doing my A4 commission cards. I used beautiful 'Wedded' pearlised patterned paper from the Bella! Wedding collection. The paper was matted onto a square of silver mirri and adhered to the front of the card. A beautiful intricate panel was cut from more silver mirri and adhered to the front of the card with foam pads. I added an embossed heart and ribbon bow to the top of the panel, and in the centre of the panel are two beautiful swans cut from pearlised card. I flipped one of them so that they were facing each other. A computer-generated sentiment was trimmed to fit a silver mirri oval which was adhered below the swans with foam pads. I embellished the oval with a pearl heart and some plain pearls. A quartet of medium sized pearls completes the card.
Carts used:
Intricate panel- Ornamental Iron 2
Swans- Art Nouveau
Heart- George
Oval holding sentiment- Opposites Attract

A giraffe for Emma!.........

This was the third in a trio of cards that I made for Debbie, my hubby's secretary. Apparently Emma loves giraffes, so that was my brief for this card. It's a biggun! A4 again. I used papers from Papermania with leaves and wood effects on them. The layout is simple with a central panel holding the cuts. I wrapped some pretty leaf shaped ribbon around the bottom of the centre panel then added the giraffe, cut from two shades of Bazill cardstock with a little chalk shading for definition. 'Emma' and '18' were cut from DCWV glittercard and adhered to the card with foam pads. I added a branch and some punched flowers to add a little femininity to the card. A smattering of pearls completes the card.
Carts used:
Giraffe- ZooBalloo
Emma & 18- Base Camp
Branch- Serenade
I'm hosting a Swarm tomorrow and I have a request to the ladies who are coming, from Lorraine. She has mislaid her Sweethearts cartridge and wonders if someone picked it up by mistake at a previous Swarm, and asks that if it was you could you please bring it along tomorrow? Thanks.

Jackie.....

This the second of a trio of commissioned cards that I made earlier this year for my hubby's secretary, Debbie. I had no brief for this one so I had pretty much free reign with it. I used papers from a 12x12  Grace Taylor 'Blossom' stack by Dovecraft. The layout is very simple using just two designs from the stack, mounted onto white cardstock. The central panel was punched along the bottom edge with a MS daisy border punch. I added ribbon and a bow before adhering to the card front with foam tape. I cut a fancy panel from white cardstock, and added a simple scalloped rectangular matted panel to the centre. It was adhered to the central panel with foam pads. 'Jackie' was cut from white cardstock and adhered flat, and the '50' was was cut from blue glittercard and adhered with foam pads. A sheer ribbon rose and a smattering of pearls completes the card.
Carts used:
Fancy panel, 'Jackie' & '50'- Ornamental Iron 2

Uncle.......

This card was a commisioned through the shop by a lady for her uncle who was to be 101 years old. The brief was for vintage cars or trains, so not having the Art Deco cart at the time I knew that there was only one other suitably vintage car on a cart that I had. The card base is a C5, the papers are from the DCWV Neutral Stack and all of the elements were cut from brown, copper and black mirri. The car was mounted onto an embossed panel cut from vanilla cardstock shadowed with brown mirri, and placed centrally on the front of the card. Fancy corners were added, 'Uncle' & '101' were adhered above and below the car with foam pads, and the card was finished with a smattering of brown pearls.
Carts used:
Vintage car- Wrap It Up
Shaped panel- Elegant Edges
Fancy corners- Heritage
'Uncle' & '101'- Stamped

Precious Godson.......

This card was another commissioned card, this time through the shop. Baby James is apparently the first baby to be born into his family for 30 YEARS!!! (Can you believe that?!) so the client wanted 'something special'. I had a card to hand that was more or less the same, showed it to her, and she said that it was just what she was looking for. She told me what she wanted the sentiment to say on the front of the card, and I suggested the 'Silver Cross' pram as the embellishment.
The card base is an A4 which was covered with baby script paper. A large, intricate frame was cut from white Bazzil and adhered to the card front with foam pads. The sentiment (apart from 'James') was computer generated onto white textured cardstock, then cut into an oval. 'James' was cut from blue shimmer cardstock and adhered above the sentiment. The completed oval was adhered to a scalloped oval and adhered over the aperture in the frame. The pram was cut from silver mirri card and blue shimmer cardstock and emebellished with a blue pearl heart. It was adhered below the sentiment with foam pads. A floral arrangement was adhered to the top of the oval. A sheer bow and a smattering of pearls completes the card.
Carts used:
Frame- Ornamental Iron 2
Scalloped oval- Elegant Edges
JAMES (individual letters)- Storybook
Pram- Mother's Day

Boing,boing,Baggies!!!!!!......

What the.......! I hear you say! Well. if you didn't already know 'Boing,Boing,Baggies!' is the battlecry, or terrace chant, of West Bromwich Albion football club. The recipient of this card is one of No.1 son's housemates, Nicky, who although she comes from Stoke-On-Trent is a West Brom fan. Krishnan called me and asked if I could make a card for her with a West Brom theme. So I went onto good old Google (images), found a West Brom club badge and the chant, and printed the badge onto textured cardstock. It was adhered with foam pads to a panel embossed with footballs in the centre of a standard C5 card. I kept the card simple with no patterned paper, just white and blue cardstock. Nicky, although terribly sweet, is not a very girly girl, but I added a piece of football print ribbon and a bow for a feminine touch. There's not a huge amount of Cricut stuff on here, just the sentiment and name, but heyho needs must and all that!
Nicky, I'm assured, was thrilled and No.1 son said I'd excelled myself!
Aw, shucks!!!
