Wild seas & warmer climes.......

Believe it or not it's almost June but you wouldn't think it from this pic! My sister, BIL & two great-nieces came down for Bank Holiday and they wanted to go to the beach, so off we trundled on Sunday to Lee-On-Solent beach. Cripes it was breezy! My BIL flew my little niece's kite and boy did it go! We were sitting nursing cups of tea at the Beach Shack and the kids were in the water in their wellies! Why don't kids feel the cold?!!!!

Now, this card is for a lucky lady moving to warmer climes. One of the nurses who works with my hubby is moving to Dubai to work and the Department wanted a card for her. It's a biggun- A4- and incorporates icons for her job, and the place she is going to, hence the nurse's top and the palm trees (well, dates actually!) I've used this top before on the nurse/doctor shaped cards I made a while back. I put a stethescope in the pocket and added a name badge. The background paper has a medical theme but I've had it for ages and can't remenber where I had it from. I cut the trees from textured cardstock and adhered them with foam poads to the front of the card. I then adhered the nurse's top slightly overlapping it. I cut the 'Au Revoir' sentiment from pale blue card shadowed with dark blue then adhered it with foam pads above the other elements. The main sentiment was cut from tectured cardstock and adhered with foam pads in the spaces above and below the centre panel. A smattering of Candi dots completes the card.

Sweet Wishes Choccy box.........

A feminine box of yummy chocolates adorn the front of today's card. It's another card made from the fab Everyday Pop-Up cards cart. The card base is a 6x6 square and the papers are Papermania Henbury Lane. The chocolate box was cut from two shades of textured cardstock and the lining was cut from gold mirri (although it looks pink in the pic!). The choccies were cut from brown and cream cardstock. I added some thin ribbon to the lid of the box- there is a slit cut in the lid which is handy for this! The sentiment was cut from pink glittercard and adhered to a banner. All elements were adhered to the card with foam pads. A ribbon bow and some pearls complete the card.

Inspired Hearts Baptism.......

These cards were made from another new purchase, Inspired Heart, a Cricut Lite. Now, I don't make an awful lot of religious cards but this cart is useful for so many other occasions. There are some beautiful words on the cart too. Different religions-Hindu, Christian, Muslim, Jewish- are represented, with relevent worshipping places and symbols.
I loved these images of praying children and thought that they would make great Baptism (for an older child) or Confirmation cards, although, surprisingly, there is no 'confirmation' word on the cart. I made both of the cards the same only changing the colourway and the image. The images were cut from pearlised card with a mirri ovals, which were embossed after cutting. The images were adhered to the ovals with foam pads. A simple plain white mat edged with the same pearlised cardstock and mirri was fixed to the front of the card with foam tape and the image was adhered to the mat with foam pads. The 'Baptism' word was cut from pearlised cardstock, shadowed with mirri and adhered below the image. I could have added some silver cord down the side if the card with a cross charm on it, but I'd already fixed the panel to the card.

Just a note- All the new carts are in the Cricut Lite-style boxes.

Expecting A Big Event?.....

I bought THE fabbest (is that a word?!) cart last week. It's called Everyday Pop-Up Cards and it is crammed full of great phrases & images- oh, and pop-up inserts too! I can't see myself using the pop-up parts, not very often anyway, as there are absolutely NO instructions whatsoever as to how to make them up. Typical of PC to not think things through! The phrases are interchangeable- the phrase on my card is not the one that goes with the cut, but it works.
I used some background paper from PC with expectant ladies on it, and the green paper is a freebie (I'm using loads of freebies lately!) The expectant Mum was cut from textured card and her dress from Pink Petticoat paper. She was adhered with foam pads over a punched ribbon-trimmed border. 'Congratulations' was cut from DCWV glittercard and double-shadowed with white & pink cardstock. This was adhered at the top of the panel with foam pads. A layered bloom, a pearl heart and a smattering of pink pearls completes the card.

For A Labrador Lover.....

I was commissioned to make another card for the same customer who I made the Nadine & Dave cards for. This time the brief was for a card for a labrador lovers 25th birthday. I don't have a cart with a recognisable labrador on, so I turned to trusty Google Images and downloaded a picture of a golden labrador. I printed it out twice onto textured cardstock- giving it a look of a canvas print- then decoupaged the images for dimension. I used papers from the DCWV Natural stack and a simple layout. The image was matted onto brown cardstock & gold mirri card. The panels of patterned paper received the same treatment. The completed image panel was adhered to the card front with foam tape. The sentiment & '25' were cut from paper and shadowed with gold mirri, then adhered with foam pads. Gold Card Candi dots complete the card.

Kick It!......

It was my BIL Steve's birthday last week and this is the card that I made for him. I thought that he'd appreciate a fun card as he's a fun bloke! He's also has a black belt in karate and runs his own Dojo. My little great niece Chelsea loves to go along with her Grandad and joins in- she even got her first belt a few weeks ago! Not bad for an almost 6 year old!
Anyway, back to the card. I used some freebie papers from Creative Cardmaking (Pink Petticoat papers I think!) and a very simple layout, the best thing where guy cards are concerned! I cut the little karate guy from white card, shadowed him with black and gave him some googly eyes. For added fun I adhered him to the card with a Papermania spring. The sentiment was cut from black card and adhered flat to the card.

I hope you're having a great weekend. The weather here is glorious, I've got my washing blowing in a gentle breeze and I've cut the lawn (no mean feat with a 170ft garden on a hot day!)
Happy Weekend!!!
