Warm winter wishes on ice......

I've another shutter card for you today. This one came together quickly because it was the second I'd made..it's always the first one that seems to take forever to make! I used Dovecraft papers and plenty of silver mirri for matting & layering. The skate was cut from silver mirri, pearlised blue card which I embossed, and white card which I flocked to give it the apperance & feel of velvet. I added some pink pearls to the skate where the laces would be. I flipped the skate because I wanted it to face into the card not out of it. I cut a scalloped rectangle for the skate to sit on and embellished it with a large layered white poinsetta. I added pink snowflake print ribbon to the bottom long rectangle and scattered some white glittercard snowflakes about. The flakes have pink & blue gem centres. 'Warm Winter Wishes' was cut from aqua glittercard and shadowed with silver mirri.

Happy Birthday Rhea.....

I made this card for our friends' daughter Rhea's birthday which was was on Thursday. As a child Rhea used to love clomping around the house in her Mum's shoes (and mine when we went to visit!) so I thought she'd appreciate a pair of killer heels on her card.
I made a shaped easel for the base and decorated it with Paris Nights papers from g.c.d I added velvet ribbon and bows and a pair of fab shoes cut from black mirri and red glittercard. I punched mini flowers from black glittercard and adhered them to the shoes and added a red gem to the middle of each flower. I cut a shaped plaque to hold the name and trimmed it with small red bows and black pearls. A large layered flower was added to border along with some more pearls. 'Rhea' was cut from red glittercard and adhered with foam pads to the plaque which acts as the stop. 'Happy Birthday' was cut from red glittercard and shadowed with black mirri. This was adhered with foam pads. On reflection I think that Happy Birthday should have been 1/2" bigger, but heyho!

Jingle and a handy hint.....

First off, I don't much like this card- don't know why, it's jolly enough- I think it's the fold. I made one last month for one of The Boyz Next Door, that was ok, but this one? Well, I'll let you be the judge. The main reason I'm showing it you is because it has a little addition to it that I think you may find useful..or at least the recipient of your cards will.
One of the ladies who comes to my workshops & Swarms told me that her daughter had called her and said 'Mum, how do you make this card stand up? I've tried it everywhichway and I can't figure it out.' Sue told her, and it got me thinking (my hubby will tell you that's a rarity!) that maybe more people just won't 'get' these easel cards. So I created a document on Word and then printed it onto Safmat. You get tons on an A4 sheet and you just cut one off, peel off the backing and adhere it above the 'stop' on your easel card. If you double click on the card picture you'll see how I did it. If any of you want one of these, e-mail me and I'll send you a copy as an attachment. Just print it onto Safmat and they are ready to go!

Anniversary shutter......

It was my youngest brother and SIL's wedding anniversary yesterday (Congrats Nick & Lisa!) and I made them a shutter card to celebrate the occasion. I made it in exactly the same way as Tara's card using BoBunny (I think!) paper. I added a scalloped oval topped with a plain embossed oval decorated with glittercard flourishes and a layered bloom. The couple and the sentiment were cut from brown glittercard-the couple were adhered with foam pads and the sentiment adhered flat.
To finish I added some punched hearts and brown pearls.
Since photoing (??) the card I removed the 3 hearts from the top panel and added their names instead in brown glittercard

Plain oval-George

Cut bunny baby....

I promised to show you these cards yesterday, but I forgot and showed you Tara's instead. So I'm giving you a cheery start to your day with these little bundles of uber-cuteness! I decided to cut the bunny bodies from gingham/polka dot papers so that they look like little dress-up outfits and added the details with pink Bazill. I punched some tiny circles with the largest hole punch on my Cropodile and added teeny holes to them to look like buttons then adhered them to the front of the bunny bodies (double click on the pictures to see them in more detail)
The completed bunnies were adhered with foam pads to a punched border on an Easy Easel. 'Cute' was cut from glittercard and adhered to another punched border creating the 'stop' A layered bloom and a smattering of pearls complete the card.

A Shutter card for Tara......

Our niece Tara has a birthday today. I was caught on the hop with this one..she lives in Melbourne, Australia where she is at medical school, and I only posted this yesterday! Hopefully she'll get it by the weekend.
I used a shutter base for this card..these are so easy to make but are time intensive but they are worth the effort. There are 3 large panels to decorate but I leave the centre one blank to write the greeting on. I used a piece of A4 cardstock and using a Hougie board, scored 5 & 10 cms on each short edge then 4cms in on each long edge-this gives you 3 large panels, 2 long narrow panels and 8 small square panels. Then you cut along the 2 long score lines between the two 5 cm score lines on the short sides (phew I hope that makes sense!) If you want 3 large square panels score the 2 long lines at 5cms instead of 4.
All you do then is decorate the panels. You can apply paper directly to the panels or mat them. It is easier to decorate the card before you fold it. You must make sure that the matted panels are slightly smaller than the actual panels or folding will be difficult.
I added a scalloped rectangle topped with a birthday word embossed panel to the front of the card. I cut a model, dressed it , then adhered it to the panel. I added a large Prima rose and some pink pearls. 'Tara' was cut from pink glitter card and adhered to the top centre long panel, whilst ribbon and a bow was adhered to the other long panel. A simple mat with 'Happy Birthday' and a couple of flourishes complete the card.
Have a go at one of these cards, you'll not regret it!

Happy Baby....

AAWWW! Isn't this THE cutest cut?! Just look at the smile on that little one's face! Melts your heart don't it?! This cut is from my most recent aquisition..Simply Charmed. This cart is CRAMMED with cute cuts, all with little smiley faces on them. However because each cut has up to 4 layers you can omit the faces just by reducing the amount of layers to 3..so this cart is VERY versatile! As you can see I made 2 versions..a boy & a girl. An Easy Easel forms the base card along with pretty paper, a punched X-Cut border and ribbon (What!..NO FLOWERS?!)

I added detail to the prams with a dressmaker's wheel, along with Candy Dots for the wheel hubs and a punched glittery heart and some white pearls. 'Happy Baby' was cut from glittercard with a white shadow and adhered to the base card with foam pads to form the 'stop'. A couple of punched hearts and a smattering of pearls complete the cards.

If you think this cute wait until you see tomorrow's cards!
