You have 24 hours.......

It was No2 son's 17th birthday on Bank Holiday Monday. He's a big fan of Jack Bauer so I thought that I'd have a go at making a '24' themed card. I downloaded a pic of Jack Bauer from Google Images and printed it onto lightweight card, cut it out and then adhered it to some green mirri, cutting it out again leaving a border all round. I matted a piece of camouflage paper onto more green mirri and adhered it to the front of the card. I adhered Jack to the bottom left hand corner with foam pads. I cut out some crosshairs and a grenade from gold/green mirri and computer generated the sentiment. The '24' was created with 9 rectangles cut from gold mirri, and with the aid of a '24' DVD cover for reference, the ends were cut at angles so that the rectangles fit together in the correct way. I then adhered the rectangles with foam pads onto some red mirri and cut around the whole thing. It took me several times to get the cuts right- I used scrap paper first. The completed '24' was then adhered with more foam pads to the front of the card. The inside was covered with more camou paper and crosshairs along with the rest of the sentiment.

Weekend Wedding...

Sorry I've been AWOL.... I was at a wedding in Edinburgh this weekend and I'm featuring a bridal gift and card that I made for the happy couple, Neha & David. We've known Neha since she was knee-high to a grasshopper- her Dad is a medical school colleague of my hubby's- and now she's all grown up and a married lady! The wedding was lovely, a Hindu wedding ceremony in a Scottish country house. I'll post some pics as soon as they are sent to us. Anyway back to the gift. I wanted to give Neha something to keep so I made her this shoe and boxed it. I made both shoe & box from white pearlised card (Becca Fekken has a shoe with a link on her blog-Amazing Paper Grace- in my blog list) then decorated it with lace, white velvet ribbon, pearl sprays and a white camelia. I adhered it to the white tissue paper in the box and sprinkled wedding confetti inside (I added a little bit of glue to each piece of confetti to stop it moving in the box) I then sealed the box and decorated it with peel off border, white ribbon and another flower. The card is a copy of one featured in a previous post. I added the happy couple's names cut from white glittercard and a Safmat computer generated verse. The verse is beautiful..click on the photo for a better view. After I took the photo I added a vellum envelope to the inside of the card front to which we added some money as a gift.

Aunt.....

Here's another 3 panel card for another member of the family..this time, Aunt. I used Papermania Rose Garden papers, glittercard for the icons and a beautiful minty green blown rose from Prima. I used a MS punch for the bottom of the long panel & wrapped some green ribbon around the bottom of it. I used scalloped mats as on yesterday's card and adhered the icons with foam pads so that they overlapped the centre square a little. I decorated the inside with a scalloped rectangle, a die-cut & border 'ribbon' from the Papermania pack.

Oh Baby!....

Here's a couple of cards made in exactly the same way as yesterday's. I used traditional baby colours but you could use any combination of colours really. I substituted the straight edged squares for scalloped and used the centre square for a glitter card sentiment. The cute feet & nappy pins are cut from glittercard. The inside of the card is really simple, just another scalloped square, a punched border and glitter card hearts.

Trains & boats & 'planes......

I've a very masculine card for you today. I've used this layout a lot and you will see evidence of that over the coming days...here we go again I hear you yell! I used paper from a GORGEOUS paper stack by DCWV called The Natural Stack(The Range £19.99), and it's crammed with scrumptious browns & coppers. I covered the front of the card with a mixed pattern paper and cut three 2 1/2"squares from different papers, matted onto gold mirri. I added a long panel to the left of the card and then arranged the three panels, overlapping, leaving a place for a sentiment. I cut the 3 icons from gold mirri and adhered them to the squares with foam pads. I added gold pearls to the squares and 2 brown buttons sewn onto gold mirri punched circles. The inside was decorated simply with the addition of scrolled gold mirri corners.

Sister......

This card is so simple but very pretty (blowing my own trumpet here!) I used paper from DCWV Nana's Kitchen (I just LOVE that pink tartan paper) and a scrap of Bo Bunny polka dot paper for the scalloped oval frame. The frame was cut in the polka dot paper and a shadow cut from white card. I adhered the two together with foam pads and adhered a pice of yellow dotted paper behind it to hold the cameo which was cut from pink glittercard. I used a MS punch and some Smirk ribbon for the border. The white portion under the border was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. I cut 'Sister' from pink glitter card and adhered it with foam pads to the white portion. The frame was decorated with a gorgeous Prima flower and some extra layered flowers and a few pearls. The completed frame was then adhered to the card front with foam pads. I decorated the inside of the card with more tartan paper and a simple scalloped oval mat. I've taken to leaving the inside of the cards blank just lately so that the giver can write their own message.

Happy Birthday Anita!....

I made this card for our Aussie niece Anita who at the moment is working on the paradise isle of Barbados! How lucky is SHE?! She is SHOE MAD!! I've never known a girl with so many shoes! So I thought it only fitting to use shoes on her card. I used papers that came free with a card mag and a square card, which I don't use very often. The layout is very simple just matted & layered squares. I used a MS border punch on the orange spotted border and wrapped it with hot pink satin ribbon. I cut the shoes from crodile-skin textured paper and black C/S and added a punched flower with gem centre. I cut her name from aqua glitter card and adhered it with foam pads. A layered flower and gem swirls complete the front of the card. A simple sentiment square was added to the inside of the card.
