Happy Birthday Amber!

This is the card that I made for the daughter of some good friends of ours. I made the card from scratch - by that I mean that the card base was cut with the Cricut along with the patterned front of the card (liner). I cut the card out @ 6 1/2" but had to trim a smidgen off the right hand side to get it to fit a square envelope. I covered the inside back with pink paper then a smaller piece of dotty line paper. The front was covered in pink paper, the aperture cut away by hand and then the liner adhered over it. I added a voile bow and layered flower with a polka dot brad in the centre. I used a Dovecraft image again and adhered it to the back of the card so that it appears in the aperture when the card is shut. I added the recipient's name to the front and Happy Birthday to the inside.

Baby & Love Word Books

Sorry folks, I don't have a card today as I am busy prepping projects for a new Christmas (EEEKKK!) workshop starting next week. I have had this project in my archives for a while however. It was one of the projects in a workshop that I held earlier in the year. These word books are dead easy to make and you don't need the DS to make them although you can use it if you have one (it's too much of a faff for me!). I cut the appropiate letters out of card and used them as a template. I covered the required lengths of cardstock with differing papers, then butted each letter up to the right hand short edge of each page, drew around the template faintly then cut it out carefully leaving the left hand part of the letter intact. Then I just put them all together butting up each letter to the next, trimmed off the excess at the left hand side then punched holes with the Cropodile and fastened all the pages together with large rings. I threaded ribbon through the rings and knotted it. All that is needed to finish the books are photos etc. These books measure approx 12" x 5". You can make word books for any occasion- you just have to be mindful of the length of the book, available cardstock and papers (you may need to piece papers together for longer books)

Mummy-to-be!

I've had this lovely paper covered with mummies-to-be on it for yonks and thought it was about time I used it! I also wanted to make a card for an occassion other than a birthday. I could have put a pregnant lady on the front as there is a lovely image on the New Arrival cart, but I didn't want to detract from the paper. I made a pieced paper panel with ribbon trim & layered flower, for the front of the card, and covered the base card with paper from MME rounding the corners. I adhered the pieced panel with foam pads. The sentiment was cut from aqua glitter card and adhered with foam pads. I added three candy dots to finish.

p.s It wasn't intentional to put that candy dot over the head of that mummy!

Be Happy !

When I was making this card I had no idea what to do with it (what to put on it) but I like the paper so much that I thought that I'd cross that bridge when I came to it! The paper is from The Paper Mill but I've no idea who the manufacturer is, sorry! It has a lovely glaze effect on it & the purple paper is the reverse side. The layout is very simple with a punched border mat. I used a corner rounder to curve just one corner and echoed that on the centre panel. I added green satin ribbon, bow and some bling. The B was cut from the reverse side & shadowed with pink card. the rest of the wording was cut from dark grey paper. Three layered flowers & more bling finish the card.

For Dad, with love

It was my Dad's birthday on August 4th & this is the card that I made for him. The front of the card was folded back on itself and decorated with paper from MME. I added a masculine patterned ribbon with a knot of ribbon tied onto it. I covered the inside back of the card with toning paper and added a panel to write a greeting on. I made a panel exactly the same as the one on the back and placed it over the fold so that it covered the other panel when the card was closed. I cut out 'Dad' and added the letters to the panel with foam pads. I added a rub on greeting & 'with love' below the panel.

Shaped Panel- StoryBook

Monochrome Wedding

Hi everyone! I'm back from my 6 day Portugal trip. We had a great time but boy was it hot!!! I was glad to get back to cool old Blighty I can tell you! Got to get my mojo back too- it's taken a holiday aswell!
Anyway, this card was made a while back as a commission card for a wedding early in August so I guess it's OK to show it to you. I used some swirly black paper for the large panel and white Bazzill cardstock for the centre panel. I cut a scalloped oval frame from mirri card and shadowed it in black. I added a silhouette bride & groom, three paper roses, pearls and the recipient's names cut from silver mirri. The lady who commissioned it was chuffed!

Giddy-up!

Here's a very simple card for a little boy (or girl if you change the colours & sentiment inside!) The layout is very simple using papers from MME Magnolia collection. The plain card panels were edged with Fiskars Threading Water (????!!!) punch. I added ribbon but unusually for me NO flowers- well, I suppose a boy card can do without flowers! I cut out the little boy on the old-fashioned rocking horse (does anyone remember the film Mandy with Mandy Miller?- there was a very chilling scene in that with a rocking horse like this one!) adhered it to the white panel with foam pads & added 'giddy-up!' underneath. I decorated the inside as shown.
