Sweet Sixteen!

Here's another doiley card made with free papers from Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine. I cut the doiley card and covered the back of the front of the card with red paper then trimmed it to fit. I cut a circle of white card, covered the front with 2 designs of paper, covering the join with red stitched ribbon & a bow. I then mounted this onto a red card circle. The panel was adhered to the card front with foam pads. 'Sweet' was cut from red card then glittered, and the '16' was cut from red polka dot paper & card. These were also added with foam pads. To finish I added 3 red heart-shaped buttons. The 'thread' in the butttons is actually tiny slivers of paper threaded through the holes and adhered at the back with a glue dot.

Happy Birthday Chelsea!

It's my great-niece Chelsea's 4th Birthday on Monday and this is the card that I made for her. I cut out the doiley card, covered the back of the card with pink card & trimmed it by hand. I cut a circle of card slightly smaller than the front of the card and covered it with two different papers, scalloping the edge of the bottom portion with a Fiskars punch. I threaded voile ribbon through the holes and added a bow with a layered flower. I blinged it up with some gems and glitter and added the name using glittered card stock. I punched 2 small and 1 medium heart and added them with foam pads under the name. The inside was decorated with a piece of scenic paper and glittery sentiment.

Champagne Celebration!

This card was for a commission, and the brief was Champagne and NO pink! I decided to use this fab champers bottle tri-fold card which fits the bill I think! I cut the card out at 6 1/4" to fit a C5 envelope. Although it looks green the bottle is actually the same colour as the letters & numbers! It's cobalt blue mirri card and I love it! I traced around the bottle onto the blue mirri and cut it out & adhered it to the bottle on the card. I cut out the trimmings in silver mirri. I added '1959' to the bottle label and a layered flower and ribbon trim. 'JO' & '50' are cut from blue glitter card and adhered with foam pads. The happy birthday is cut from blue mirri and adhered flat. I added a personal insert to finish. I am assured that the customer was thrilled with it!

Forever

Here's another card made with that lovely turquoise & chocolate combo. This time I used some polka dot paper in chocolate brown from Papermania along with the lovely turquoise print paper. It's a very simple layout with addition of a layered flower with a Laura Ashley fabric brad at it's centre and a satin ribbon bow. The sentiment is glittered, and some bling finishes the card.

Enjoy Life!

I bought this lovely paper from The Paper Mill. It's sort of pearlescent in a lovely turquoise with white print, and I wanted a real contrast so I decided to use brown, and I think the combo is luscious! I cut a piece of paper to fit the front, shaped it into a curve, adhered it to a piece of marble paper, then matted it onto chocolate brown cardstock. The panel was then adhered to the front of the card with foam tape. I added a brown satin ribbon band with layered flower (this one has a lovely velvet texture) with a Laura Ashley fabric brad in the centre. I cut out the 'Enjoy' icon, passed it through the Xyron then dumped brown glitter over it. I added rub-on letters to spell 'life!' and some bling to finish

Congrats Menai!

The eldest daughter of some good friends of ours qualified as a Doctor last week- well done Men!-so I made her this card. Her younger sister Rhea qualified a couple of months back and I featured her card in a previous post too. I used some pretty pink paper from Papermania, some blue spotty paper (unknown scource) and glitter & mirri card for the frame and stethescope. I cut the frame from cream coloured glittercard and backed it with peachy-pink glitter card. I paper-pieced a stethescope from silver and pink mirri card and also cut Congrats from pink mirri. 'Menai' is cut from blue glittercard. The blue panel is edged with a Fiskars border punched and wrapped with swirly voile ribbon. I added three candy dots to finish.

In case you're wondering, Menai's name is the same as the Menai Suspension Bridge over The Menai Straits in Wales. Isn't it a pretty name ? I can tell you that she is a VERY pretty girl too!

Hi Friend!

I made this card using a layout from Moralia's Weblog. Her card is made with clear cardstock but I decided to make mine with the regular stuff!
It's very simple, just panels attached together and mounted onto textured cardstock which has been matted onto green card. I added faux stitching with my trusty dressmaker's wheel and a white gel pen (click on the picture to see it in more detail) I added ribbon, flowers, rub-on sentiment and 'hi' cut from card and paper and raised on foam pads. Bling finishes the card off.
