Robot Birthday

I made this card using the DCWV Boy stack. One of the sheets has little robots all over it so I used one of them to paper-piece this robot from squares & rectangles. I covered the front of the card with 2 different papers and covered the join with a strip of mirri card cut with decorative scissors. I cut out a circle frame with a shadow and backed it with a circle of holographic card.
I added silver ribbon, toning brads and a sentiment on the blue circle (because it's silver mirri it doesn't show up well on the photo) and a sentiment inside.
Carts used-
Robot- George (I just cut different sized squares & rectangles)
Circle frame- Accent Essentials
Sentiments- Lyrical Letters (Jumbo font)

Happy Birthday Lauren!

This is the card that I made for my niece Lauren's birthday next week inspired by a post on Dannisdoodles blog. This great flip-flop is one of a pair (well duh!) but I only wanted to use one. I cut out a large flip-flop- you can only cut this size out on the Expression- and covered it with spotty paper. I used the other shape as a template to shape the front of the card. I added two eyelets at the top of the shoe and made a hole where the toe-post would be and threaded ribbon from the top holes down to the bottom one and secured them at the back. I then added a large bloom and brad. I cut out Lauren's name from paper & adhered it to the top of the shoe. I stuck the whole thing onto a piece of white Bazzil and cut around with scalloped scissors leaving a border. The completed shoe was adhered to the corresponding shape on the card front. I covered the inside of the card with rainbow paper, added a sentiment and 3 flower gems to complete the card
Carts used:
Flip-flop- Life Is A Beach

Our light, our rock

How about this for a Father's day card? It's very simple but effective, I think. A panel of 'sky' paper, matted & layered on red & blue form a base for this fab lighthouse which I pieced from white, blue & red card with a little silver mirri for the light section & a gem for the light itself (click on the picture for more detail) I added seagulls and the two-tone sentiment then decorated the inside with more sky & seagulls.
Carts used:
Lighthouse, seagulls & external sentiment- Life Is A Beach
Internal sentiment- Calligraphy

Happy Anniversary

This is the card that I made for my brother & SIL for their 26th anniversary last week. I got the layout whilst blog hopping and tweaked it slightly. The music paper is actually wrapping paper that I've had forever! I made a panel from Bazzil slightly smaller than the front of the card, pierced the edges with a dressmaker's wheel and then adhered it to the front of the card with foam tape. I added the two panels offset from each other and some fab black & tan check ribbon.I cut out the heart and the sentiment and embellished the heart with a fillagree heart button. The heart is cut from black mirri- I just love that stuff!-and is embellished with black pearls as is the top right hand corner of the card. A sentiment and strip of music paper decorate the inside.

An elephant never forgets!

This card was soooooo simple to make-there is hardly anything to it! I lurv this little elephant and wanted to use it- not on a baby card, but on a birthday card. The elephant was cut 4 times, 3 in card & 1 in paper and then all adhered together. I scuffed the edges with a sanding block and went around them with a dressmakers wheel. A little flower in her ear, a bow on her trunk and a googly eye complete her. I love the way her ear pops out of her body! I mounted her onto a panel decorated with a ribbon bow, added the sentiment & a little bling. Simple!
Carts used:
Elephant- Zooballo (the elephant is cut along with a giraffe- just stop the machine when the elephant is cut)
Sentiments-Lyrical Letters

Happy Birthday Karen!

This is the card that I made for my SIL Karen for her birthday last week. I went kind of vintage with this one, using Papermania paper. I used 3 different papers, some lovely burgundy velvet ribbon, cotton lace, pearls and a flower embellished pleated circle. A Laura Ashley brad in the centre of the flower and a dragonfly charm complete the card.

Roll up!!! Roll up!!!

Here's a fun card for a little one, with a circus theme. I used the DCWV All Boy stack and the same layout as the ZOOM card. I used some corrugated card as a small panel to hold a ready-made embellie, a cute little lion from The Paper Mill. I added some ribbon and a couple of stars with candy dot centres and I used the small check paper for the sentiments.
Carts used:
Stars- George
