If friends were flowers.....

Blue is not a colour that I use very often for cards (except for baby cards of course) so this lovely paper from Dovecraft really caught my eye, and when teamed with yellow it made for a really summery combo! The colour is much more vibrant in real life. I covered the front of the card with the blue daisy print paper and added a band of yellow paper across the middle with ribbon & knot trim. I cut out a frame from pearlised card, backed with another paper with white 'stitched' flowers on it. The frame was raised on foam pads. Layered flowers, blue pearls and inside sentiment & decoration complete the card. Oh, I also glittered the outside sentiment & the centres of the daisies!

Karate Birthday

I've made a few crossover cards in the past so when my BIL Steve's birthday was due I decided to use one for his card. Steve is a Karate Blackbelt & a Sensei and these crossover cards are ideal to make a ghi shaped card. I adhered 2 cards together and cut opposing diagonals. Although you can't see it on the photo, I added a wide strip of card with faux stitching on it across the inside back 'neck' edge & down the two diagonal cut edges (click on photo to enlarge detail) . I added a mini 'label' on the neck edge, wide black ribbon for the belt and the SEKU (Shotokan of England Karate Union) logo to the font. I computer generated a greeting on Safmat and adhered it to the inside back. Super simple but just the job!!

Wild Card Wedding

I love the Wild Card cartridge, but I have to say that it works better for the Expression machine as some of the cards cut very small on the original bug, but don't despair! You can make a fabbo feature on the front of a standard card instead of a stand alone card as I have done here. I cut the pretty filagree oval card sized to fit the front of a 5x7" card. I backed the front of the oval card with some pretty printed angel-hair type paper from The Works. I covered the front of the main card with some Doodlebug embossed paper matted onto silver mirri. I adhered the oval card to some silver mirri cut to shape with deckle edged scissors. I then decorated the oval card with white flowers with pearl centres & some little embellie butterflies that came free with a mag at Christmas. I punched a hole on the right hand side of the oval, put an eyelet in & threaded swirly ribbon through it ( I trapped the other piece of ribbon under the oval before I adhered it to the card front) To finish the decoration I added some pearls in each corner and at either end of the flower arrangement. I computer generated the greeting onto Safmat and put it inside the oval card. I decorated the inside of the main card with the sentiment 'your big day'. This card has gone to India with my other half to be presented to the bride & groom, Swati & Kalpesh, tomorrow at their wedding!

Commission card

This is a card I made for a commission. The brief was a card for a 35th birthday with a fashion theme. The colour was left up to me. One of my fave combos is hot pink & black so I went with it for this card. I hand cut a dress & stand from pink glitter paper (dress) & silver mirri (stand). There is a beautiful dress on the Wedding Solution cart but it has a very large skirt & I wanted the dress to be slinky! I added a blowsy bow to the waist & tiny black gems as straps & a necklace. I added polka dot paper, Doodlebug velvet paper scalloped frame, a layered flower and the sentiment cut from black & pink glitter paper. I also added a bit of bling to the frame! I added a computer generated insert.

It's your day!

I haven't used George & Basic Shapes for ages so I decided to bring it out of mothballs & use it on this card! Poor George, he doesn't get used much these days with all the new yummy carts about! I used the Blueberry Hill paper again, covering the front of the card with one paper & a panel with another. The panel was edged with a Fiskars border punch. I added another smaller offset panel in cream which holds the sentiment. A satin ribbon & bow, a large flower, candy dots & glitter complete the card.

I continued the circular theme of the paper on this card with the plaque on the front. The paper is from DCWV Spring Stack I cover the front of the card with 2 designs separated with a punched border. I added a satin ribbon & bow then adhered it to the front of the card. I cut a plaque consisting of a scalloped circle & 2 smaller circles, layered them up then added a sentiment & flowers. I also added some candy dots & bling. The sentiment was glittered. I also decorated the inside.
