Happy16th Birthday!

It was our eldest son Naren's birthday last Sunday and this is the card that I made for him. I cut away half of the front of the base card and covered it inside and out with the same paper. I downloaded a line drawing of a set of drums (Naren is a VERY good drummer and has played at school at the Christmas service) from Google images. I coloured it with Gelly Roll Glitter Pens and cut it out. I applied opal dust to the front of the drum & Naren's nickname 'NAZ' with rub-ons . I mounted it onto a large star cut from blue holographic card. I also cut 'SON' & '16'
from the same card. I stuck the embellished star to the front of the card with half of the star hanging over the front and adde the SON & 16 with foam pads. I punched some gold star from mirri card and scattered them about to finish.

Vintage Grandad

I don't normally use ready made embellies, but when I saw this vintage car at The PaperMill Shop I HAD to buy it! I mounted the car onto blue & red cardstock embellished with brads. I mat & layered a piece of dogstooth paper from DCWV and added a simple sentiment which was shadowed in red.. Less really is more when it comes to guy cards don't you think?!

Warmest Wishes On your Birthday

I got this lovely paper from The Range last week. It's called Blueberry Hill from Papermania's Signature range, and there is also another collection called Regency. They are really lush!!
Blueberry Hill has little rosebuds, trellis roses, tartans and paisleys all in shades of pink, yellow & mint. I'll be showing a few cards made with these collections later. I used 2 different designs of paper for this card with a white spotty Bazzill panel on top. The white panel was edged with a Fiskars Border punch. I added three flowers with rosebuds added to the centres, pale pink satin bow & some gems. I added sentiments inside & out. The outside sentiment is glittered.

Bright & cheerful birthday!

This card is really bright & cheerful thanks to the paper from DCWV Spring Glitter Stack. The layout was borrowed from another blog out there in bloggyland. I cut three panels from the green paper and mounted them onto pink card, trapping a piece of ribbon below the middle panel. The strip across the middle was taken from another paper in the stack and is printed with flowers & little birds. I added a glittered scalloped circle, layered flower, sentiment and a large bird cut from the paper which was mounted onto the scalloped circle with foam pads.

I'm Sorry......

This is another card made with the sketch I like so much! I used more paper from DCWV,wide satin ribbon, layered flower & home-made gem swirl. I added extra gems & glitter and decorated the inside to say 'I missed your birthday'. This could be turned into a sympathy card by using muted colours & changing the inside sentiment to 'for your loss'.

Crafty tip!

I thought I'd let you all in on what I use for generating my inside card sentiments. Paper! Simple as that! It cuts small letters much better than cardstock, especially intricate curly fonts like All Mixed Up or Loop De Lou . I collected all my paper that I've had from The Paper Mill cut it into A5 size & put it in a box. There are tons of colours which you can match up (otherwise just use black) and it cuts like a knife through butter! Put your blade depth and your pressure at 4 (med on Expression) and you will be good to go! You will save yourself a load of headache & wasted cardstock, believe me!
Hope this little tip helps. Let me know!

Delightful!

Chandeliers seem to be everywhere at the moment so I thought that I'd go with the flow with this one! Sorry about the poor photo BTW! I wanted the chandelier which was cut from black mirri card, to look as though it was hanging, so I suspended it from a 'pelmet' cut from a piece of contrasting paper by Pink Petticoat. The main backing paper is from Clare Curd by Papermania. I used hot pink card for contrast. The white panel is Dotty Bazzil edged with a Fiskars border punch. I wrapped hot pink ribbon around the 'pelmet' and added a bow & large layered flower. Although you can't see them, there are black Papermania gems on the droplets of the chandelier. I also decorated the inside.
