Baby Blessings

Who doesn't like making baby cards? I made one very similar to this for my niece Terri when she had her new baby girl Holli just before Christmas. I used DCWV Nana's Nursery (boy & girl stacks) for these cards. I used 4 different designs of paper, matting and layering them. I cut a scalloped circle to hold the pram which was cut twice- once from silver mirri and once from polka dot paper. The silver outline pram was then stuck onto the dotty pram. I wrapped ribbon around the panel and added a flower trimmed bow with a brad. Three miniature buttons and a sentiment finish it off. I don't know whether you can make it out but the scalloped border beneath the flower has been punched and embossed with a Martha Stewart border punch but a Fiskar's punch would suffice or even scalloped scissors!

Vicki's 18th card

Happy New Year everyone!!! Back to the old grindstone and getting out of the Christmas card rut! My kids keep me really busy with birthday cards. Here is another for No1 son to give to his friend Vicki for her birthday. No1 son has not had an 18th party yet simply due to the fact that he is one of the eldest in his class (he'll be nearly 19 when he leaves school!) and nearly all of his friends are still 17 and of course they cannot drink (legally at any rate) so he has informed me that when the last one is 18 they are going to rock the south coast with one humdinger of a mass 18th party! Well....we'll see!!!!
Anyway, back to the card. I've upped the size for my cards and am now making 8x6. They give you a larger canvas to work on and with the new Cricut cartridges getting more and more intricate you need to cut at larger sizes. For this card I used a freebie paper from Crafts Beautiful, matted onto lime green card. '18' was cut from a contrast paper from the same free booklet and shadowed with lime green again. 'Vicki' was cut from lime green card, run through the Xyron X and flocked with papermania Spring collection glitter flocking powder (don't say that when you've had a pop or two!)'happy birthday' and 'th' were cut from pink paper (I find paper better to cut with for smaller letters) and the whole thing arranged as you can see. When I was happy with the placement I stuck it all down. The '18' and 'Vicki' are raised on foam pads. Some prima flowers with glittered brads finish it off. Don't spend a fortune on glittered brads- simply cover the head of a brad with an appropriate sized glue dot, mould it around then dip the sticky head into a pot of glitter or flock and hey presto! Glittered brads!
Hope you like it!!

Another quickie wedding card

This was yet another of my late night crafting projects! I don't know why I do it to myself!!!I made this card for the son of my neighbours who got married on 20th December. I suppose that the colours are quite unconventional- lilac and pale aqua but they went with the DP so heyho!!!
The letters were cut from Bazzil and shadowed with silver mirri .The DP is from Dovecraft's Wedding collection matted on silver mirri. I added a strip of ribbon, a ribbon bow topped with a layered flower (this is a fave technique of mine at the moment.I'm using it a lot!)a pearl brad (in the flower) and self-adhesive pearls to decorate the ribbon and letters. I added a vellum envelope to the inside to hold a cash gift.

Simple but effective don't you think?

Merry Christmas Everyone!!

Sorry everyone...no card to post but I would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope that next year will bring Hope and Peace to all the troubled areas of this world of ours. Let us spare a thought for our Service men & women who will be apart from their loved ones this festive period and hope that they all make it home in the New Year. It would be lovely (but naive..I think) to hope that everyone could learn to respect each others beliefs and to live together in peace and harmony...surely it can't be that hard?
Have a wonderful time & don't get too stressed over Christmas lunch (or dinner depending on where you come from!)As Anthea Turner says "It's only a Sunday roast with a cracker!"
Enjoy, and I hope Santa brings you all you desire and I'll catch you all in the New Year
With Christmas Love

3 today!

I rarely use ready made embellies but I picked this little fella up from The PaperMill shop. I was from a set of little jungle creatures and it just happened to match the DP perfectly. This paper came from A.C. Moore's and is double sided. I used 3 designs for this card-a crayon scribble, a stripe and a polka dot. I layered up 2 panels on dark aqua Bazzil and cut out a circle with a scallop 'shadow', a large '3' in paper and 'today' from c/s.
The '3' and scalloped circle are raised on foam pads and the 'today' is flat. The white circle has been pierced around the edge with a paper piercer. I then glittered it to finish. You can of course change the colours, embellies and number to make a card for just about any occasion for both adults & kiddies. Change the scalloped circle for a square for a man's card or just make it a plain shadowed circle. You can then add anything you loke to the circle- a beer bottle, car, football.....anything you like! Make it your own!

Beautiful Bauble

I made this card using the new Christmas/Noel Solutions cart. There are some beautiful cuts on this cart , some fillagree (angels & trees) and some that can be used as silhouettes. This bauble look much better IRL but you know how hard it is to photograph glitter and Mirri card!
The card in itself is very simple but looks great- you can change the colour of the bauble to match your DP. The bauble was cut from silver mirri card with a blackout bauble in glitter paper from Crafttime. They were then layered up gemstones added and a little silver bow at the top of the bauble. A panel of 2 designs of Papermania paper was layer onto silver mirri, a silver ribbon and bow added over the join and then stuck to the front of a side fold card. Another panel of white Bazzil was again layered with mirri, gems added to the corners and placed over the ribbon slightly to the left of the card front. I didn't add a sentiment because the paper has a sentiment on it already. Hope you like it!
