Mr & Mrs.....

I've been making tons of cards with this layout and I'm going to be boring you with them over the next few days! Now you'll just have to trust me on this one...this is a wedding card made in probably the most unlikely colour EVAH! Yes folks- it's bright lime green!- but believe me in real life it's stunning (blowing my own trumpet here!) and unbelievably delicate. This style of card is so easy. I just cut off the front on the diagonal but leaving about 2 1/2 to 3" on the right hand edge. I punched the cut edge with an MS punch then covered inside & out with DCWV glitter paper. I added a border, punched again with the MS punch, sheer ribbon & bow, a beautiful Frangipani flower from Calico Crafts with a rose at it's centre and some pearly fronds. I added pearl hearts and a glittercard sentiment. Nothing else is needed. I made another one of these for a wedding in Scotland at the end of the month and I shall replace the 'Mr & Mrs' with the bride & groom's name.

You & me.....

Here's another version of yesterday's card using the same papers and the same flamingo cut, this time adding a second flipped image. I added some fluttery eyelashes to the flipped flamingo and a glittery brown heart behind both of them. Chocolate brown ribbon, punched glittercard hearts, a layered flower and sentiment complete the front of the card. Another suitable sentiment and punched border finish the inside.

I Adore You......

When I saw this paper by Bo Bunny I knew what I wanted to do with it. The blue/pink check paper behind the panel is actually the reverse side of this double sided paper- I much preferred it to the 'proper' side. I also used some co-ordinating polka dot paper and a small strip of the 'proper' side of the patterned paper. I cut this fab flamingo in brown & pale pink Bazill and pink polka dot paper. 'Adore' was cut from pink glittercard. I added a punched border, chocolate brown ribbon & brown glittercard sentiments and punched hearts. The 'I' & 'You' on the front of the card was created with 'Heidi' rub-ons from Making Memories.

Happy Spring......

I have to say that I'm not too sure about the injection of orange into this card - I think that the shade is too strong, maybe peach would have been a better choice- but it matched the orange ribbon so what the heck! I can live with it! Same layout & paper stack as yesterday (again!) just a different image and sentiments. The 'happy' part of the sentiment was done using 'Heidi' rub-ons from Making Memories.

Time for tea!.....

Anyone for a nice cuppa? I bought the DCWV Nana's Kitchen stack last week and it has this lovely paper with teapots, cake, cups etc on it and I thought that it would be ideal for a card to invite someone to meet up for a cuppa. I used the same layout as before in pretty pastels and used this pretty little' girl at a tea party' cut. I cut her from pink glitter card and adhered her to a scalloped oval mat. I added ribbon and a layered flower and the 'tea time' sentiment cut from yellow glittercard. I cut 2 small teapots as extra embellishments, one for the front of the card and one for inside. The letters that make up the inside sentiment were cut at 1/2" on the Big Bug and I used paper to cut them from. I find that smaller letters are better cut from paper as cardstock is too thick to cut swirls and holes in a's & e's.

Hope you are having a good weekend- we've got visitors today and it's also hubby's birthday so we've been out to lunch to the pub and then had a walk on the beach.

Bee my honey!!!....

A sure sign of spring must be the buzzing of bees- I have a cauldron of spring flowers on the decking outside the family room and it's attracting humungous bees! Almost as big as this one!
I used papers from DCWV Nana's Kitchen and some orange polka dot paper from my stash. I cut the bee & hive from glittercard and mounted it onto a central decorated panel. I added some ribbon, a layered flower, gems and some little flight lines with a black glitter gel pen. I added a simple sentiment, punched border and another bumblebee to the inside.

Mirror, mirror......

I told you I loved that layout didn't I?!!! Well, here's another card made with the very same layout. This time I used a fab mirror cut. I used papers from DCWV Citrus Stack and some blue & silver mirri card. I cut the complete mirror from silver mirri then cut the frame from blue mirri. I adhered them together with Anita's tacky glue. This stuff is FAB and I use it now for almost everything..it's particularly good for sticking mirri to mirri & glittercard to glittercard. I embellished the mirror with some gold gems & a rose. I then finished the card with ribbon, layered flower, floral gems and sentiments cut from blue glittercard. You could change the wording on this card to 'Looking FAB.... at 40!' for that special lady's special birthday.

Just be you....

This card is almost a total lift from Dannisdoodles (she's in my sidebar) except that I used the Cricut instead of stamps. I also LOVE this layout and I have been using it a lot..you'll see how much over the coming posts. I used DCWV glitter papers for this one. I cut the dress form from silver mirri and pale yellow spotted paper. Then I cut a dress and altered it by cutting away the hem, neck & sleeves and adding crepe paper frills. I then adhered it to the dress form. I cut the sentiment from red glittercard shadowed with yellow. I added sheer ribbon, a layered flower and some fabbo flower gems from The Paper Mill (made byCraftTime I think) I added a punched border strip and unshadowed sentiment inside.

Maude....

..yes. really!! That's her name according to the handbook! Good grief!..what on earth is she using?!..a TYPEWRITER?..what's one of those when it's at home? Seriously ladies.. does this remind you of the typing lessons at school or the typing pool (wow, were those places noisy!) at the office? Isn't this a lovely image? I used MME papers and purple & green glittercard. The layout is very simple and the image quite large (on refelction I think it's a tad too big) with ribbon , layered flower and sentiment oval. Another sentiment oval and punched border inside complete the card.

Special delivery #2....

Here's the other card that I mentioned yesterday..exactly the same components..just a different orientation-portrait this time. The bird wasn't embossed on this one because the white panel was
and I put the 'stamp' on the outside instead of inside.
The carts are the same as those I used on Special Delivery#1
Hope you had a great weekend, and thanks for dropping by!

Special Delivery...

This card is one of 2 similar cards (this being the second one that I made) The first card nearly ended up in the bin but I put it away and made this one..then came back and finished the 1st one...I hope you are keeping up!!! I used papers from a Papermania Capsule Collection for this card along with a white embossed panel and a new Martha Stewart punch (I bought this one after I broke a very similar Fiskars punch trying to punch through Mirri card) and I have to say I prefer this one hands down. I bought it from here.
I cut the dove from pale lilac glitter card and an envelope from white glitter card. I embossed the bird with a texture plate and added a purple gem for an eye. I cut special delivery from purple glittercard and adhered it to the white panel with foam pads. I added sheer ribbon, layered flower and gem swirls. I cut a shadowed stamp for the inside of the card and added a sentiment along with a punched border strip.

Kate....

It's my niece Kate's 18th birthday today..Happy Birthday Kate!...... and this is the card that I made for here. I used a layout inspired by a sketch (TESC104) from here and papers from Dovecraft. I went with a purple & green colourway with a white embossed panel for the name. I cut the model out of black card and then the clothes were cut twice, in purple handmade paper and green fabric-effect paper. The purple piece was cut down to create a sleeveless top which was then adhered over the whole green piece. I added a necklace made from silver cord and a square jewelled brad, and some silver pearls around the neck and around the waist for a funky belt. I added some more cord around the wrists for bracelets and added some more tiny silver pearls for earrings. The completed model was adhered to the card front with foam pads. I added irridescent purple ribbon and a bow with a green jewelled brad in the centre. 'Kate' was cut from purple glittercard and adhered with foam pads in the white panel & '18' was cut from green glittercard & adhered in the smaller blue panel. The card was completed with some gemstones on the name panel and a simple sentiment inside cut from purple glittercard.

Who needs rules?!!!.....

Here's a guy card for you today but it could be made really grungy and would be great for a teenager with attitude! Whatever!!! I used paper from MME and glittercard in brown and lime green. The layout is simple, just 2 main panels with a border strip on the left. I added some leather ribbon and large eyelets to the strip to butch it up a bit and I adhered the sentiment panel over it on foam pads. The green and brown shadows were hand cut. I completed the sentiment with Heidi black rub-ons from Making Memories. I made a sentiment panel for the inside using brown glittercard again.

A shower of birthday wishes.....

This is another brolly which is slightly plainer than the other brolly shown in a previous post so it could be used on a man's card too. For this brolly I cut it first in silver mirri then the top was cut on shift from patterned paper, then they were adhered together. I put a little trim around the ferule at the top. The layout for this card is the same as for yesterday's. I added sheer ribbon and a layered flower and a sentiment, inside & out, created with the Papermania mini alphas from the Country Roses Collection. I finished the card by lightly glittering the letters and the spots on the brolly.

Vintage silhouette.....

When I got the Heritage cart I really wanted to use the cameo-style silhouettes, there are about 6 on the cart but I decided to go with this one. I cut the silhouette frame from aqua glittercard and then the cameo itself from pink glittercard. I backed the oval frame with spotted glittered vellum, then adhered the pink cameo over the base silhouette with silicone. I added a pearl necklace made from adhesive pearls and a bow and rose speared with a pearl hatpin from here.
I mounted the completed frame onto a layered panel with punched edged and ribbon trim. I completed the card with large pearl adhesive hearts. The inside of the card(not shown) was designed for Mother's Day but it could be given to any female acquaintance.

Happy Mother's Day!.........

to all the lovely Mums out there..especially mine! Love you Mum! This is the card that I made for the boys to give to their Nanny..there other grandmother lives in Australia and their Mother's Day is later on (June I think!) I used Dovecraft papers from the All Loved Up collection, and a fairly simple layout using 3 different papers. I cut a pretty little umbrella from mirri card & paper and positioned it upside down on a scalloped oval. I then filled the upturned brolly with roses of different sizes. I added a bow. glittercard wording and a layered flower. I added another scalloped oval to the inide of the card and a Happy Mother's Day sentiment.

He is risen!......

Easter cards seem to be all fluffy and eggy so I decided to make a more religious themed one.. that IS what it's all about after all. I used only one piece of patterned paper for this card and mirri...boy I wish it was easier to photograph this stuff!..and this fab book cut. I cut the book 3 times..in grey leatherlook cardstock, silver mirri & then white cardstock. I cut away the relevant pieces and layered them up. I added 'page' detail with a dressmaker's wheel and some peel-offs (shock, horror!). I cut the cross and added a bunch of mini roses and silver ribbon, then mounted it onto a scalloped oval. 'He Is Risen' was cut from silver mirri and adhered flat. A bookmark ribbon was attached and finished with some adhesive pearls and punched daisies with pearl centres were added to the corners. A frame and sentiment was adhered inside the card.

You are my cup of tea.....

The layout for this card was CASEd from here When I saw this little tea time combo (I think that it's actually a coffee pot but what the heck!) I thought of teaming it with 'you are my cup of tea'. I used Papermania Rose Garden papers and little alphas. I cut a scalloped oval and topped it with an embossed, shadowed oval cut with a Colluzle template. I added a teatime combo cut from aqua glittercard and adhered it with foam pads. I added a layered flower and the little alphas (also adhered with foam pads). I cut another scalloped oval for the inside of the card leaving it blank to add your own message.

Flower Fairy Mummy.....

You won't believe how long it took me to make this card...only ONE WHOLE DAY!!! I made it..took it apart..made it.......you know how it goes sometimes. You would have thought that with the amount of carts that I've got (I'm embarrassed to divulged the exact number!) I could have found SOMETHING to go in that oval..not on your nelly!I nearly binned it,then I pulled out some freebie flower fairy chipboard tags that came with Papercraft Inspirations and found one that was PERFECT! I proceeded to turn it into a card for a mummy..Mother's Day, Birthday, whichever occasion you like...and I love the finished result. It's so delicate & pretty and well worth all the effort.

Easter Bonnet.....

What wouldn't you do to get your hands on a hat like this?!!! Very Ascot Ladies Day don't you think? As we are coming up to Easter I thought that I would use this cut as an Easter Bonnet. I cut it from 2 shades of Bazzill, adhered them together and added detail with a dressmaker's wheel. I used polka dot ribbon and a single layered flower as adornment. I layered 3 strips of paper from Papermania's Rose Garden collection, punching the edges of the top & bottom strip, then wrapping polka dot ribbon around the remaining join. This panel was then adhered with foam pads over a white panel matted onto aqua & pink card. I adhered the hat with foam pads and added layered flowers and pearl swirls. I cut the sentiment from pink & aqua glitter paper and adhered it flat to the card front. I made a simple panel and sentiment for the inside of the card & finished it with more flowers.

Relax.....

I bought some new Papermania papers at The Range on Monday-they are called Persimmon and they are perfect for men's cards. I love this chair cut and I thought that it would be ideal for a retirement card. I used papers in shades of blue (3 different designs) and prepped an easel card. I cut the chair from gold mirri and added seat & back cut from patterned paper. I mounted it onto a panel of paper matted onto gold mirri. I decorated the stop with a strip of co-ordinating ribbon and added 'Happy Retirement' and some blue metallic candy dots. I also cut 'Relax' from mirri and adhered it to the side of the main panel with foam pads. I believe that the secret to making men's cards is 'keep it simple'. Tomorrow I'll show you the ladies version.

Happy Easter #2

Here's another Easter card using the same cut as yesterday's card, but this time as an easel. I wanted the egg to protrude over the top of the card so I cut it down a little and then made it in the same way as any other easel card. I decorated the egg in the same way as the previous card (in fact I made this card first!) the added it to the top of the card with foam pads.I used narrow ribbon and some guipure lace for decoration. The papers were from Creative Cardmaking and the wording was cut from pink glittercard.

Happy Easter Egg.....

I haven't made many shaped cards despite having the Wild Card Cart (this card isn't on there by the way!) but I fancied making an easter egg shaped card and after many trial cuts this is what I came up with. This card at this size- approx 7 1/4"- can be made on the Create (in Portrait mode) & Expression and a smaller version of approx 6" can be made on the Original bug. First of all I cut an easter egg shape from embossed white Doodlebug cardstock, decorating the bottom half of the egg with patterned paper.I then adhered it to a white card, the front of which I covered with pink paper. The egg was adhered quite close to the left hand edge of the card, then I cut around it with scalloped scissors (always start cutting in an area that can be covered if the scallops don't quite meet). I then adhered the band across the egg and decorated it with layered flowers & leaves. I cut 'Happy Easter' from pale pink glitter paper from CraftTime and finished with a pearl swirl.

Rockin' Birthday....

This is the card that I made for No.2 son to give to his friend Matt who had a birthday last week. I used some fab paper which is printed with LP's ,guitars and drums and a camouflage paper in the same shades of blue/grey. A cog shape was cut from camouflage paper and shadowed with silver mirri. I cut a guitar from silver mirri and grey sparkle paper, added tiny pearls coloured with a permanent marker, and adhered it onto the cog. For the name I cut circles from paper and mirri and added some large letter domed stickers and then adhered these onto the cog to the left of the guitar. Happy Birthday was cut from mirri, embossed and adhered to the stop over a strip of music printed ribbon. For a finishing touch, silver candy dots were adhered to the top of the card and to the stop with silicone glue.

New Home....

This is a card that I made as a commission (hope you received it OK Maureen!). I used papers downloaded from a Papercrafts Essentials freebie CD and a simple format. I cut the house from white card then again from blue card. I embossed the blue house with a brick-effect Fiskars texture plate and added red door and window frame then stuck both of the houses together. I decoupaged the 2 topiary trees and adhered them with foam pads. The house was also adhered to the front of the card (as was the sentiment) with foam pads.I cut 'New Home?' from aqua glittercard. I added a sentiment to the inside of the little white house. The front of the card was closed with a photo turn.
