Thanks...for being there
I hope that you are all having a great Bank Holiday! It's lovely at the moment here unlike this morning when it was quite grey & overcast. I don't often make Thank You cards, but I thought that the sentiment was a little different and could be used for a friend who had helped you through a difficult time etc. I 'borrowed' the layout and used paper from MME. I cut a large flower print panel and overlayed it with a smaller spot print. I added faux stitching to both panels. I adhered them to the card with foam tape. I added a red satin bow to the larger panel and a layered flower with fabric brad to the white panel which was cut from Dotted Bazzill and layered with red cardstock. I added gem swirls (using individual self-adhesive gems). The Thanks was cut from blue card, the 'T' cut off and replaced with a larger upper case 'T'- this improved the composition on the white panel. It was then glittered with glitter glue. I decorated the inside of the card with a bloom strip & sentiment.

Gone fishin'?
I'm not altogether sure that I like this card! There's something not quite right with it! Oh well, I can live with it- for the time being! The colours are a bit whacky but I used the fishy paper as inspiration. I cuttlebugged the orange panel and matted it onto black. I then cut out a matted oval (cuttlebugged again!) to hold the boy icon. The letters for the sentiment on the front of the card were cut out individually, stuck close together onto black card, then cut out by hand as was the inside sentiment. I cut out 3 fish from mirri card in different sizes and joined them together at the mouth with a titchy brad. I added 2 silver & 1 black candy dot and some Opal Dust to finish. Am I right not to be too fond of this card-let me know!

Layered oval- George
Boy icon & fish- A Child's Year
Sentiments- Ashlyn's Alphabet

p.s Just a little tip for you- If you want to Cuttlebug anything that's been cut on the Cricut., CUT IT FIRST then Cuttlebug it. If you don't the blade will rip rather than cut the embossed parts.

Beautiful Sympathy
My boss Jennie makes lovely cards, and this is the Sympathy card that she gave me when I lost my Dad. Her style is very different from mine. Her cards are very clean & uncluttered. It hasn't photographed well 'cos of the mirri card, but IRL it's very striking. The decoupage that she used is very unassuming on paper but when teamed with black & silver it becomes something very different. This card is very simple with a polka dot panel, the silver & grey rose and the sentiment. The card base is pearlised black.
Thanks Jennie, I love this card.
I think that the cart that she used was Plantin Schoolbook.

Happy Birthday Terri
Yesterday I showed you the card that I made for my SIL Lisa's birthday on Sunday, well today I'm showing you the card that I made for my niece Terri's birthday which was also on Sunday! I kept it clean & simple with white as the predominate colour. I matted a piece of white cardstock onto blue & claret coloured cardstock around which I wrapped a piece of plum coloured polka dot ribbon. I cut a smaller matt onto which I adhered a lady with parcels (& a rather slinky looking cat!) using foam pads. I added a freebie felt flower onto which I glued a flower gem, some bling & a bow. I cut 'Terri' from purple glitter card & adhered it flat.

Happy Birthday Lisa
Sorry I haven't been around for the last few days , but I had to go up to the Midlands for an emergency visit to my parents. Most of the ladies who know me from my workshops know that my lovely Dad has been very sick for a while. Unfortunately he passed away very suddenly on Friday morning. It was a great shock to all of us. We knew that his life expectancy was short but we did not expect him to be taken so suddenly. We are all heartbroken and so sad for our equally lovely Mum who has been through so much too. We loved our Dad so much and we'll miss him more than words can say. God Bless Dad. Through all of the trials & tribulations my brother Nick and his wife Lisa have been absolutely marvellous looking after Mum, first of all and then Dad when he came out of hospital. They have both been there from the very start of Dad's illness and they were both there at the end. They are both very special people and I love them both dearly. It was Lisa's birthday on Sunday and this is the card that I made for her. I based it on a layout I found whilst blog hopping. I used Papermania Blueberry Hill paper for the background & trim under the shaped panel. The white panel was cut from embossed paper and edged with a Martha Stewart punch. I added a shadowed panel, layered flowers and a ribbon bow. 'Lisa' & the sentiment were cut from glitter card. I finished the panel with self-adhesive pearls.

Happy Birthday Amber!
This is the card that I made for the daughter of some good friends of ours. I made the card from scratch - by that I mean that the card base was cut with the Cricut along with the patterned front of the card (liner). I cut the card out @ 6 1/2" but had to trim a smidgen off the right hand side to get it to fit a square envelope. I covered the inside back with pink paper then a smaller piece of dotty line paper. The front was covered in pink paper, the aperture cut away by hand and then the liner adhered over it. I added a voile bow and layered flower with a polka dot brad in the centre. I used a Dovecraft image again and adhered it to the back of the card so that it appears in the aperture when the card is shut. I added the recipient's name to the front and Happy Birthday to the inside.

Baby & Love Word Books
Sorry folks, I don't have a card today as I am busy prepping projects for a new Christmas (EEEKKK!) workshop starting next week. I have had this project in my archives for a while however. It was one of the projects in a workshop that I held earlier in the year. These word books are dead easy to make and you don't need the DS to make them although you can use it if you have one (it's too much of a faff for me!). I cut the appropiate letters out of card and used them as a template. I covered the required lengths of cardstock with differing papers, then butted each letter up to the right hand short edge of each page, drew around the template faintly then cut it out carefully leaving the left hand part of the letter intact. Then I just put them all together butting up each letter to the next, trimmed off the excess at the left hand side then punched holes with the Cropodile and fastened all the pages together with large rings. I threaded ribbon through the rings and knotted it. All that is needed to finish the books are photos etc. These books measure approx 12" x 5". You can make word books for any occasion- you just have to be mindful of the length of the book, available cardstock and papers (you may need to piece papers together for longer books)

Mummy-to-be!
I've had this lovely paper covered with mummies-to-be on it for yonks and thought it was about time I used it! I also wanted to make a card for an occassion other than a birthday. I could have put a pregnant lady on the front as there is a lovely image on the New Arrival cart, but I didn't want to detract from the paper. I made a pieced paper panel with ribbon trim & layered flower, for the front of the card, and covered the base card with paper from MME rounding the corners. I adhered the pieced panel with foam pads. The sentiment was cut from aqua glitter card and adhered with foam pads. I added three candy dots to finish.

Be Happy !
When I was making this card I had no idea what to do with it (what to put on it) but I like the paper so much that I thought that I'd cross that bridge when I came to it! The paper is from The Paper Mill but I've no idea who the manufacturer is, sorry! It has a lovely glaze effect on it & the purple paper is the reverse side. The layout is very simple with a punched border mat. I used a corner rounder to curve just one corner and echoed that on the centre panel. I added green satin ribbon, bow and some bling. The B was cut from the reverse side & shadowed with pink card. the rest of the wording was cut from dark grey paper. Three layered flowers & more bling finish the card.

B- Don Juan

For Dad, with love
It was my Dad's birthday on August 4th & this is the card that I made for him. The front of the card was folded back on itself and decorated with paper from MME. I added a masculine patterned ribbon with a knot of ribbon tied onto it. I covered the inside back of the card with toning paper and added a panel to write a greeting on. I made a panel exactly the same as the one on the back and placed it over the fold so that it covered the other panel when the card was closed. I cut out 'Dad' and added the letters to the panel with foam pads. I added a rub on greeting & 'with love' below the panel.

Monochrome Wedding
Hi everyone! I'm back from my 6 day Portugal trip. We had a great time but boy was it hot!!! I was glad to get back to cool old Blighty I can tell you! Got to get my mojo back too- it's taken a holiday aswell!
Anyway, this card was made a while back as a commission card for a wedding early in August so I guess it's OK to show it to you. I used some swirly black paper for the large panel and white Bazzill cardstock for the centre panel. I cut a scalloped oval frame from mirri card and shadowed it in black. I added a silhouette bride & groom, three paper roses, pearls and the recipient's names cut from silver mirri. The lady who commissioned it was chuffed!

Scalloped oval frame & names- Ashlyn's Alphabet

Giddy-up!
Here's a very simple card for a little boy (or girl if you change the colours & sentiment inside!) The layout is very simple using papers from MME Magnolia collection. The plain card panels were edged with Fiskars Threading Water (????!!!) punch. I added ribbon but unusually for me NO flowers- well, I suppose a boy card can do without flowers! I cut out the little boy on the old-fashioned rocking horse (does anyone remember the film Mandy with Mandy Miller?- there was a very chilling scene in that with a rocking horse like this one!) adhered it to the white panel with foam pads & added 'giddy-up!' underneath. I decorated the inside as shown.

Laugh often!!!
.It was only after I had uploaded the photo of this card that I realised that there was something missing from it. What is it you may ask? Well, I'll tell ya!- THERE'S NO BLUMMIN' GLITTER ON IT!!!!! What was I thinking of?!!!!!I used paper from the My Mind's Eye Magnolia stack. I added faux stitching around the panels made with a dressmaker's wheel & a white gel pen. A square panel matted onto orange cardstock was adhered with foam pads and the sentiment applied flat. A satin ribbon & bow, a layered flower and spotted brads finish the front of the card. I decorated the inside too.

Floral Birthday
I was asked by some colleagues of my DH to make a card for a fellow worker who is 50 this week. The brief was gardening. I decided to go with a 'plant in a flowerpot' This card is UBER big! It's A4 in size (11 x 8 1/2"). I used a check & polka dot mix of papers and hand cut a flowerpot from Kraft Cardstock (actually boxes from The Paper Mill!) I tied a sheer ribbon bow around the flowerpot and added a safmat greeting beneath it. The flowerpot was added to the card with foam pads. I cut out the recipient's name & age from glitter card and added the name above the flowerpot and the age on the flowerpot. I used 5 large blooms (from a hawaiin lei from a £ shop) and layered them up with primas and glittered brads. I added some leaves from my stash to finish.
